This Saturday night will be an action packed night at Central Florida's best asphalt track! This weekends event is headlined by the return of the independent wingless sprint car race that was rained out in February. After getting their first event under their belt at PGS last month I'm sure this one will be even better. The sprint cars turned out a 20 car field at PGS and were expecting even more for this Saturday nights show. Keep your eyes peeled around town Friday afternoon as there will be several sprint cars on display at our local businesses. The drivers and owners will have grandstand discount coupons with them to hand out, stop by and show your support for asphalt sprint car racing. If your a sprint car fan, and want to continue to see sprint car racing, come out and show the track that you want to see the sprints return to Citrus again!
Also on the card is the only 50 lap Pure Stock race of the year. This will be the big event for the Pure Stock class this year and is sure to draw the cars out of the woodwork for a chance at the time clock and an extra distance race. Last weeks 20 lap show had a field 20 strong, so I wouldn't be surprised to see as many as 30 cars show up to make this race.
Also making their first trip to Citrus County Speedway this year will the racers of the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association. Their last event brought a field of over 30 cars for the series divisions.
Also on the race card will be the Street Stocks who have had 5 weeks off the tune and repair their cars. I'm aware of one racer that will not be joining us this week, and for good reason. Congratulations to Tom Potts, driver of the 31 Street Stock, he will be getting married this weekend and we wish he and his wife to be a great day.
Rounding out the night will be the resurgent Modified Mini Stocks, Mini Cup, and the Street Stock/Pure Stock figure 8's!
Once again last week Citrus was the top dog for asphalt tracks when it comes to car count. Averaging over 14 cars per class and a total of 85 different cars and drivers in the pit area. So if you want to see full fields of cars, the fast cars starting in the rear, and a real 2 groove race track......this is where you want to be!
