It's just nice to know! I know some of us in the stands have talked about how they NEVER tell you during the races that so and so was DQed in the last race. You go home thinking that driver won. And then you find out later on here. If you find out at ALL that it happened.

Update on Speed51 - says that it was an internally balanced crankshaft - which is not spec on the Mcgunegil (sp?) spec motor. Even though it is not an issue in general - it just shouldn't be on an MEP motor.

Feel real bad for Bubba - he is a good guy and conceivably didn't know it was on there. They bought the thing lock stock and barrel from Elliott - although Elliott refused to tear down the motor last time out with PASS - so maybe he shoulda guessed. Interestingly, Elliott agreed to buy the car back for the financial burden it placed on Pollard.

I read the same article. The Elliott team has been suspended from PASS competition indefinitely after it had declined to allow further investigation of the engine after the Rockingham race. So they supposedly sell the car and engine to Pollard to compete in this race. They supply the pit crew. I have to believe there's more to this than meets the eye. Basically it's the Elliott team with a different driver and they got caught. Even Pollard admits they were wrong but doesn't agree with the rule. Hmmm, sound familiar. Rules are rules whether you agree with them or not. The engine isn't internally balanced to keep costs down. Makes sense, particularly since there is no performance advantage. LOL Everyone says it's not a performance advantage so why do it? (sarcasm intended)

Internal balance does run smoother but it does add a lot of weight to the crank because of all the heavy (mallory) metal that has to be added to compensate. The advantage is that if you do it internally you can run a neutral/0 balance flywheel and damper. If you have a problem with either you can replace it with another neutral balance piece and don't have to have a extra specific flywheel/damper for said engine.

I both raced and ran a speed shop for many many years,ya need to know the motor don't care at all and you make no less or more hp interally or xterally balanced....
