  • E mod 50!

Good race last at OSW! Race winner Chad Pierce started last in the field of 15, and finally took it over late in the race. Congrats to car owner and builder Randy Froehlich for a big win on his second night out.

Now in its second year, the E mod class is hitting its stride, and IMHO will continue to grow and thrive.

I'm moving to e-mod class and putting the car on the track tonight for a shake down. I'm liking the class already and it should flouish as long as people don't 'muck up' the rules from track to track like they have done with Sportsman.
      'nuff said I guess...

The key to the E-Mod's success is cost containment and NO rule changes.
Similiar division started about 6 years ago in Georgia. By the 2nd year of existence their popularity had many wondering if they would be replacing the late models as the Saturday night headliner.
2 years ago, the modifieds were removed from the weekly card and no longer race anywhere in Georgia.
Multiple reasons accounted to their demise, but within a few years, they "progressed" from dirt bodied, stock clip, 602 crate engined race cars, to a version that resembled the infamous Florida Xtreme Mods.

Same story over and over again. Happen all the time eveywhere. Starts as a nice affordable, competitive class. 1st thing you know, some hot shot(s) shows up with a state of the art professionally built cars & engine, makes friend with the promoter Bcuz he(they) buy tires fuel, etc, in industrial quantity, ask(tell) the promoter to change this and that, outspend every body, all hell brakes loose, all gets out of hand, car count drops, class goes down the drain. Only way to fix this is to have a promoter that has ball bigger than the hot shot(s) wallet(s) and will stand up to them. And also a solid group of those racers that will say ''NO'' to anything proposed to ''improve'' the class.

                    SOS again most likely

We all know how when economical IMCA mods showed up at NSS several years ago for Speed Weeks NSS was 1st in line to start the class there as a regular economy class. Before enough cars were built to run a full class the brain power at NSS (The Hart Foundation) with their ultimate wisdom decided you could not run a $350 claimer engine at NSS because it was not safe even though about 70 of them had run all of Speed Week with only 2 engine explosions. So they quickly made the engine rule a $1000 short block claim and let them progress in to the extremely expensive Florida Modifieds. We all know they have destroyed the original economy class process and and thoughts of economical. I have yet to under stand Florida race track thoughts of why the largest class (IMCA Mods) in the country running in nearly every state in the USA is not good enough, safe enough, or cheap enough to race in Florida under the same rules as everywhere else they run with out upgrading the engine costs to price them out of the economical class. Total brain dead thoughts I feel ! Now we let NSS lead us down another path of destruction. I wonder how long till destruction this time ! After all how many economical classes have we seen started at NSS and OSW and they continue to let them get built and priced out of range. They have to stop it in their rules and tech or it just keeps repeating the process over and over.

Seen it done many times before here and majorly concerned,
                    Iwyn
