Find a local race engine builder and have him build you an engine . Or for that matter build your own . The crate motor craze , while it has it's good points , is running a lot of engine shops out of business .
And we might as well use all of the cylinder heads , intakes , blocks , distributors , etc . that are already out there . As for cost , i'm not so sure that a good race engine , using all of those parts above , couldn't be built for the same price as a crate motor . With the same or more power .

well I can tell you this I have both I own the 1 superstock that we built the motor and has won at orlando and new symrna I own the 8 e-mod that chad raced last week at orlando finished 2nd it has the 602 crate motor and I have dyno both and I can tell you this the 602 cost 3,200 and my built motor cost more to build and I as long as they let us run the 602 I am not building anymore motors I would go with the crate motor . keep in mind this is a hobby your not makeing any money raceing and as far as you guys that don't like the the crates thats the great thing about this class you can still run your built motors.
