whats up. double down it will be the same deal as down south at pgs as soon as i have the details i will let u kno. thanks for all u do lou. rdv69 thanks for the heads up on the fuel man i spoke to nick this morning and he told me he has a prior committment but he also told me he will be supplying fuel for the volusia sprints, good luck nick and thanks for helping when you could there will be fuel at citrus supplied at citrus by steele performance, april 16th. its been brought to our attention for the best interest of the IPSCA we need to reach some agreement on rules, so what do we do? its simple, we follow the TBARA rule book except we dish the wing rule cause we aint got no wingsand we dish the weight rule. everything else remains the same. we have to try to get a grasp on the simple things before it gets outta control, which defeats the purpose of our cause, which is to provide the fans great racing, to see the drivers have some fun, and to leave the POLITICS to the politicians. thank you

Tony Carrreno, Lou Cabre, and I had a meeting last Monday evening with a few people from TBARA to try and see if we can get together and help each other out in any way.
The meeting went well even though there was nothing decided on.
Please read the letter below directed towards Stan Butler that comes from a greatly respected sprint car driver/ supporter "Sonny Hartley".
      Thank You

      Stan Butler, President TBARA

Last night, I went to a meeting with Shane Miller and Tony Carreno, among others, to discuss the current state of sprint car racing in Florida. Shane and Tony have started yet another sprint car club, Independent Sprint Car Association, (ISCA) in Central Florida and, on the surface, it appears that they are attempting to undermine the efforts of the TBARA to keep the purses in this area at a “reasonable” $7800. Nothing could be further from the truth. They are simply arranging a place for non-wingers to race AND the posted purse is equivalent or above the TBARA posted purse.

At the recent TBARA meeting in November, the members present and voting unanimously agreed to not run for the $4500 purse being offered by the so-called promoter’s alliance with the caveat that we would not run for less than the standard TBARA purse of $7800.

      Therefore, the facts are this:

      1. The posted purse is equal to or greater than the TBARA standard purse.
      2. The date(s) do not, and according to Miller and Carreno will not, conflict with scheduled TBARA events.
      3. Even though the purse being paid by the promoter is less than the TBARA standard purse, the additional monies are being supplied through sponsorship from a variety of businesses who support sprint car racing. Viewing this from a racer’s position, I personally don’t care from what source the purse came, I’m racing for the minimum purse to which I agreed.

Based on the above, I respectfully request that you encourage our members to participate in the ISCA event at Citrus County April 16. A good field of cars could possibly indicate to the promoters that they are missing out on a good draw for their facilities.

On the other hand, it was discussed that the purse enhancement through sponsors will embolden the tracks to stand their ground and not pay the minimum purse has merit; however, the sponsorship dollars will eventually dry up. When that happens, the promoter should, by then, have learned that he or she can make money with the sprints and will pay the minimum purse. If they don’t, then I for one, will not race at their track or tracks as agreed in the TBARA meeting.

Miller and Carreno were asked under whose rules in regards to engines and chassis specifications were they running. It was noted that for years the TBARA has been the standard setter for sprint car rules in Florida, so that is what they are using except that there is no weight rule and no wings. Incidentally, non-wing shows are a promoter’s option in the TBARA rulebook.

Another topic discussed was the TBARA “blackballing” owners and drivers who race the ISCA races and not allow them to compete in TBARA shows, specifically, the New Smyrna event last month. I am aware that that is not the policy of the TBARA nor its officers and that all sprint car owners and drivers are free to race for whomever they wish, wherever they wish, and for whatever purse they wish. Mr. President, I also encourage you to make this known to as many people as possible through all available channels including but not limited to, the media, TBARA website, TBARA newsletter, various forums on websites, and word of mouth. As stated in the “FORWARD” of the TBARA rulebook, excerpt below, the purpose is to PROMOTE and CONDUCT sprint car races ………
      FORWARD

The purpose of the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association (TBARA) is to promote and conduct sprint car races and other racing oriented events.

Having said all that, I regret that the 27 car will not be at the April 16 event as it is in Illinois being prepared to compete in the Little 500 with Jason Cox driving.

      Sincerely,

      Sonny Hartley
