  • Strictly Stock.

I just feel like talking about the class a little, you can call this venting

Strictly Stock to me is most bang for your buck kinds of racing you can do. I have been running this class for many years and still having fun with it. I reading the rule book now...It says ***NO MONEY PAID IN THIS CLASS***. Now I have ran at nearly EVERY track in this state, and every track but OSW and NSS are the only ones that don't/wont/ or just don't want to have a payout for there "bottom" class. Why is this? Last Friday I talked to almost all of the 20+ drivers and they ALL agree, They would rather pay to get in and have a payout then get in free and race for a trophy. I'm not saying it needs to be substantial, but something. I mean we are starting 20+ cars every week at Orlando and still seems like the joke of the night. I do give a Thanks to Butch and Barbra for moving the class around on the schedule so we are not last every week, I always hated that on the pace laps laps seeing spectators leaving.....

The 30lbs of air minimum is a ignorant rule. I say this because for a class that has to be completely stock, the air pressure is really the ONLY stagger adjustment we have to play with.

Now the 8 inch ride height rule I'm not griping because it keeps it honest, But my Father has a completely stock 1985 Monte Carlo SS and it ride height is 6 inches even.

And don't get me started on the Brakes Lights in a RACE CAR!!!! I hate it. It's stupid and looks unprofessional. Not to mention how many times racers at other tracks laughed at it when I went to other places to race. Then have to listen to them bad mouth my HOME track. and further more I seen a car DQ'd for not running a brake light. BS for sure.

What dose everyone else think? Im for making the class better and respected as a racing class not a rolling circus.

Hey "Crusher", we agree on some things and disagree on others. But you are right about the class, Strictly Stocks are a great bang for the buck. Last weeks race was a blast; 21 cars and lots of action. Although there is no prestige in driving a Strictly, it is a challenge to win and the races are very competitive. Thats what its all about, right?

I am indifferent about the money. Its a good idea that they started letting drivers in for free, this will help some racers who are struggling. By the way, I raced at Ocala a few weeks ago in the Gladiators, and they didn't get paid either. In fact, one of the presentors at the RPM promoters conference was adament that the entry level class should not get paid, so don't think it is just a FASCAR idea.

Thank goodness the brake light issue is in the past. Yes, I think it was a mistake too, but almost no one uses a light anymore and it seems to be a dead issue that should be removed from the rules.

I have no problems with the 30 psi rule, as long as it is equally and uniformly enforced.

I do think it is time for some engine tech, including the Cam Doctor. If we take the attitude of "well, there is no money at stake, so why bother looking at engines", then we will certainly encounter some of the motors that are running out there now.

Excellent topic William! See 'ya at OSW.

I think a BIG THANKS DOUG is in order LOL Last I heard he was bringing the lions share of the cars!!!! Might be different now, have not talked to him in a few weeks.

The entry level class is just that...it was made and designed as an way to get into racing the most inexpensive way. I APPLAUD FASCAR for letting the drivers in for free! That in itself is what $25 or $30 across the board...not sure what it costs to get in the pits now....keep in mind I am a goat farmer now! When I first got to OSW there was a limit as to how long you could run Stricktly Stock....I am also glad that that rule was done away with....I know there are folks that simply can not afford to move up...and in my little goat herding opinion...I want everyone to race that can! It did not seem fair that you could be "ousted" from racing just because you could not afford the next class up! Now...what you experinced drivers MUST MUST MUST remember...if you go out there and stink up the show and spank everybodys butt then the car count is going to plumment AGAIN! Not gripping at you just reaquainting you with the facts!

      PS GO HUGGY BEAR!!! LOL
