dd38. It is a brinn, falcon, or Bert. It is just a direct drive tranny with the clutch inside the tranny. Not on the flywheel. They are basically used on dirt. It ain't no big deal.
Most all of the series in the country have the same transmission rules as the Fups that say the clutch must be mounted to the flywheel except the last line under "transmission" in their rule it says. "crate motors can run their tranny rule with no weight penalty". Fups won't allow it. I don't know why they just don't change that rule and allow all these cars from all of these other series. I just don't understand it.

John. At the beginning of this topic when YOU said that the only thing since the first race that was changed is you increased the purse to $3000. And when I said it has ALWAYS been $3000 and gave you the link you didn't have to two step and change what you said 3 days later. Just step Up and say something like..."What I meant say was we increased the purse from what the Fast series used to pay out. Sorry about that". Just be a man about it. Everybody makes mistakes. Even men.
I did get 5 call today. 3 of them were about you. They told me you would never admit you were wrong. You are king in your world and just don't worry about John. And 2 of those calls were about transmissions. 1 was a good deal on a 2 speed and 1 was an offer for a loaner for your next race.
John. I called Desoto Speedway, Citrus and their tech guy, Auburndales, Rex, Butch, and Rusty. But after the calls I got today. Alls I can say is you must be right. I didn't call the right people. Who should I have called. The President or The King. Lol No need to answer.
So it's all good. I really think you should change your rule and get in line with all of the other series in the country and stop outlawing crate cars because we have crate transmissions. It a poor business decision just because two promoters "hate them things". But it is your island.
John. Stuff gets lost in translation on the Internet. I know you are busy so I will step up and give you a call on Monday so we can talk old man to old man.
Have a good race day.

I like all that bold type and all the caps, also the fact another a$$clown like Nerone has to jump into this. I must say this has been an interesting read, but the bottom line is it's the same old same old, Desoto Double Speak, it was going on when I raced there and it's still the same old song.sigpic

Not a problem John. Talk to you Monday.
I did want to explain why we say "ASA car". ASA started the crate motor concept for late models. They put out a set of rules just for crate motor cars. That set of rules is used by every series in the country for crate motors. Even Fups uses it. ASA wrote the book for engine tech. Crate cars have things like 11 inch crank ground clearance. That is different from supers. The engine set back is 4 inches for a crate and 2 inches on a super. Fups have these things in their rules.
It is just strainge to me why they would give us most of our crate rule book and not all of it. If they are not going to give us our tranny than why don't they us move our motor forward. A let us lower our motor.
Hopefully we all can get this worked out and get some more cars off of jack stands.

Hey flabbyass its none of your busness you dont even live in Florida. Those trans have allways been not alowed in Fla. When Bobby Deal ran ASA rules in PG that is what a few owners did. Most of the other teams though they were going to be big ASA national teams as John said. You need to get with the plan. The tracks have gotten together with a set of rules for every one the same. Wake up. Dont beat them up for trying to do something for the teams to save money.
Maybe its not for you o well.

Look. I didn't want to get back on this subject. I will talk to John about it on Monday. This post was never about the transmission until John had his remark about if I was a racer and where is my car.
I came on here at the beginning to correct a false statement about the Fups payout. And now I am on here to correct another false statement from Don. Like me or not. That just the way I am.
Don. The transmission has not always been illegal if Florida for crate motors. If fact they have always been legal. I don't run illegal. They were legal in the Fast series last year at every track they ran at. Do you need the link to their rules. Do a little research before you try to through me under the bus.
Heres the link. Please come back and tell me if I am reading it wrong.

How does outlawing crate trannies save me money. Or anybody else for that matter.
You would think Fups would at least make their rules to allow every car that Fast allowed or even make it to where cars from PGS could run with them. My car is ASA legal, Fast legal, PGS legal, but not Fups legal. Go figure.

Don, John, Critter, Rex, or who ever else has an interest in this....
I would like to know why the Berts, Brinns, Falcon Trannys are not allowed? They are simple and cheap for the racer. Have you guys priced a new 5.5" cluth? That alone offsets the cost of one of these trannys.
So they're direct drive? Big Deal. For $1,500 I can have a tranny and clutch that will have the same racing performance as a $5000 hightower tranny that some guys are running. Only difference is I wouldn't be able to shift on restarts.
I encourage those of you that are trying to get more cars, to look at all aspects of how you can save racers money. In my opinion, this is a no brainer.

I couldn't agree more, you can't buy a good rebuilt muncie 2 speed, 7.25 inch clutch and throwout bearing for what you could get a new bert for.... And the hard parts in that muncie are still 30 plus years old.. Let's not even discuss how much you can spend on aftermarket Jerico type transmissions, how much do you want to spend? There are many good used bert and brinn transmissions on the market on a regular basis for as low as $600.. Outlawing those transmissions makes no sense at all to me.....Obviously I don't have a dog in the fight, but I am always interested in the betterment of all racing...
