Anybody headed up for that? Not that many Florida guys entered. Surprised Rogers/Russell/Kennedy etc aren't making the haul.

It will be interesting to see how the show turns out - if I were them - I would be giving the Bryant's up at Five Flags a call on how to organize things. With that many cars and fans pouring in - they better have their stuff together. They had better also have a tight grip on tech as there is likely to be some slick stuff coming out for this one.

I always wondered what would happen if you put up a sh!t ton of money for an asphalt SLM race. Guess we will find out.

Oxford Plain Speedway, Maine, has been doing for decades with its Oxford 250, 25,000$ to win, 100 $ per lap lead, so possibility of 50,000$. Some have done it through the years. The whole purse for the race is is 1/4 million $.

Use to be raced with Super Late Model(Pro Stock as they called them then), now they run this race with ACT type Crate Late Model

Hey Andre! I attended quite a few of those Oxford 250 races when they were late model races. They were always fantastic races. You could always count on a few of the Winston Cup drivers being in the field, however I don't remember many of them being successful. New Englanders always seemed to prevail.

Bubba, if there was a race that I could go to this would be it. With the bonus money someone could bring home over $100,000 to win. That's a big pay day.

I don't think with our crate motor combo we would have a good shot at it. Although the Pass rules make it inviting. They give crates an extra 50lb weight brake on tracks over a half mile. They let the crates run crate tranys with no weight penalty. And they have now added 75lbs to them Factory Ford crates. (it still isnt enough) To bad the Florida tracks don't use these rules.

I'm going up to watch and have heard that Wayne Anderson is going also that Mike Fritts might be there in a car. I think it should be a good show. I don't know if I would take a create car but could be fast at the end not using up the right rear tire.

Couple years ago, they switch to ACT type Crate Late bcuz this the most used(popular) type of car around here these days. BUT, there will be a new twist this year, PASS will be there on the Saturday night of the 250, so we'll see if the old ''Pro Stock'' style cars still have their appeal for the fans. And they will aslo be there for the last event of the season. BTW, Kevin Harvick won the 250 in 2008. It was his car that he brought from down south, not a ''FREE'' ride.

I haven't heard anything about Anderson going to The Race but I did here that Choquette and Nassie were going. Also heard that another driver from Jupiter was going. My son crewed for him at the Pro Cup race last week. If he confirms I will let you know.

I've spent many years at the local short tracks in New England and to be honest, you have to be a real knowledgable fan to tell the Pro stocks from the Late Models or Sportsmen. I don't know how often, when taking someone to a race for the first or second time, that I'm told "they all look the same". In the old days, when Modifieds were king -- the support classes were a bunch of full bodied classes. Thank the Lord, Conn. tracks are (for the most part) still ruled by the "ground-pounders".

Trust me, when you walk the pit and somebody crack the throttle, you can hear and feel the difference, or when they drop the green with 30 cars, you can tell the difference between a field a full blown, 650 HP Old style Pro Stock motor compare to the taxi cab Crate ZZ4 motor.

I don't disagree with you, Andre, but that's you and I. The novice fan, who most likely isn't walking the pits, has no clue as to why similar cars are not racing as one class. The 410's and 360 sprints are different animals but it takes a bit to figure out what you're watching, the first time you see them.
Sadly, the pro stock numbers seem to be down in New England, although PASS still seems to be reasonably strong.

Very sad though that this class has almost disappeared up this way through the years.

The Maritime provinces have a Pro Stock series that runs pretty good with a very very healthy field of cars at every race. They have reorganise their rules, and made it more affordable for every body to enjoy the party.
