Was anyone looking at the lack of fans in the stands as the camra followed the cars around? Looked like half of the stands were empty.

    I noticed

I didn't think you would ever see such a small crowd at Bristol, used to be one of the hardest tickets to get in sports. I'm sure Nascar will say it is the economy COULDN'T BE THE CRAPPY RACING.

When you have the same guy winning a championship 5 years in a row it gets boring and you start to loose fans. Just my thoughts.

        Economy????

Speed made a statement that it was a 'near sellout crowd' for the Cup race.....Looked like a lot of empty seats to me too.
Seems that at our local tracks that if the same 1 or 2 cars win every week, the crowd drops off as well.
Something else..Some racers are there to support their track every week, then the track has a special race with a higher purse. A once in a while driver shows up who may be very questional on the rules and allowed to run. Takes the win hands down, and leaves with the big purse never to be seen again till the next 'special' race. I remember the days that if you win a big race you were subject to intense teching before getting your money. Sometimes a complete teardown for a $1000 to win.

        Any thoughts on this???

RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.

Tccaz, I agree, its the same thing, or at least was for 3-4 yrs at some of the local tracks, maybe it will be better this yr. I also agree about the same championship winner 5 yrs in a row, I mean i like jimmy Johnson, and he very well may be the best team right now, but don't even try to tell me NASCAR doesnt cut him slack, look at pit road yesterday, some crap about being between 2 spots on pit road. He was flat out speeding period. And then NASCAR says there are only 2 people can see the speed detector. Bull, that needs to be part of the pit road graphics on national T.V. Oh, Mr. McKinley, Don't I remember somethng about saying "Who wins more than Kyle Busch" 2-3 weeks ago? And you twisted it all around to "Who has wone more sincee Christ wore short pants? Let me ask this, "Who is winning more than Kyle Busch right now?? I believe if my memory is correct he has won 2 nationwide, 2 Cup races in 2 weeks.

putting fans back in the seats

Everyone knows Nascar has made there own winners, so if they want fans back in the seats they need to make Earnhardt a winner this year. Nobody would care if he won every week!

I agree with you Jim and the others on their statements. No one who wants to see REAL car racing wants the same driver or family to win all the time. Give me a field of 15 really good drivers with by the rules cars anyday over one driver who is just flat out better then the rest to watch in a race. I remember one of the best races I saw during the first 2 years of the SSS races was at Bronson between Arron and Bart Weatherford. It was for 5th and 6th place. The last 10 laps of that race between them was door to door flat out racing. And just as clean a race as you would ever want. The fans and drivers afterward said how fun it was to be in and to watch. That's the kind of race the will fill the stands! Not races won by the same driver all the time.

I agree, but don't think they havent tried, its just so far he cant make it happen. How many times in the last 3-4 yrs has he hit the wall after running the high line? NASCAR cant help anyone doing that, but he's getting better, I honestly wonder how good his concentration level is, nice a guy as he is.

Hey dork. The Cup *and* Nationwide guys were off last week; so he couldn't have won "two weeks in a row". This is Kyle's first *SPRINT CUP* win of 2011. Edwards won at Vegas; Gordon at Phoenix; and Bayne won the 500 at Daytona. Kyle Busch won the Nationwide race at Phoenix. Tony won Daytona, and Martin won at Vegas. Kyle didn't even win two Nationwide races in a row.

                  Kyle Busch is an ass.

                  Check your facts.

Ok, now the facts come out, you can't stand the fact he is winning more races than anyone in NASCAR today.nI like driver skill and he my NMR professor friend has more than anyone else in NASCAR today. So why is Busch an ass? Because he drives circles around Earnhardt, drives a Toyota, doesn't drive for Hendrick, rubs it in a little that he's won about 30 times more than his replacement? What is it Mr. Professor. Fact is, he STILL is winning more than anyone in NASCAR today, idiot!!!

Right on Fred!!! People hate him because he rubs Hendricks face in the dirt every time he beats Earnhardt! I have nothing against Earnhardt, I used to say he's a good kid, he's not a kid anymore, we all expected too much from him, it wasn't fair to him, still isn't. But love or hate him, Kyle Busch has more driving skill than Earnhardt will ever have. I bet if Busch retired now, Earnhardt would never catch him in the win column. After the way Hendrick fired him for Earnhardt, there isn't a driver in cup that wouldn't rub it in every time he wins.

Kyle may win the most races, but Jimmy wins the championships!
