Hey Jim, How ya doin? Gona leave in about 3 hours for CCMP. Better get your botty down here and go with me. I was looking at your post and th last article was about Bill millers crash. I never saw that one before but it said that David Perry hit bill. It was Clyde Cole that hit Bill in the intersection. I have some video of it some where. That was a scary crash too. I don't think Bill was ever able to race agin after that. Bob.......

Jim, look at my post down aways titled Desoto Speedway. Look at those cars. have you ever seen those race? I don't remember them but then agin my memory ain't what it used to be. One of them is a VW bug. I don't ever remember seeing a Bug on a stock car track. Bob........

Hey Bob, how's it goin man?

Actually, I was just getting ready to load-up with my son & head over to NSS for tonight's events. Thought it was time I get a eyes-on opinion on my Nephew's progress instead of trying to decipher how he's doing through 2nd hand stuff on the net. Besides, his crew is saying some of the old guard is hanging around his pit so after a 25-yr. hiatus, I'm anxious to shoot the sh$$ with some of them again. Of course, I'm certain this will get the old juices flowing again and I'll be lookiing for a closer venue to get my fix later this year so please keep the invite open.

BTW, ya wanna go along with us? Plenty of room. I'll be happy to pick you up anywhere you'd like?!? I'll PM my cell number to you.

Yeah, those images were posted in Bryan's son's facebook album. I only extracted them and reposted them for Jimmy McKinley's benefit because he couldn't pull up facebook from his location. I think you're correct. I don't remember Bill coming back after that wreck.

Nope, never saw any of those on the track. Especially a VW bug.

      hey Jim

How was NSS lst night? From what I gather from Boneman and others it was out standing. CCMP was great, although I thought it was a full moon and couldn't find the moon. Cars were crashing every where. Before I got there they air evac'ed a Champ kart driver. He hit the wall hard head on. In their 2nd heat, two karts flipped. I think in the sportsman race one of them joined the turttle club. In the OWM class the leader was coming down the front straight and I think his throttle stuck and he ate the turn 1 wall. had a truck lose it coming out of 4 and hit the wall and buried his front right into the right door. We had 2 others transported to the Hospital. What a night. Im loveing it. I ran into a couple old buddys of yours last night. Dave and Chad cushing. Chad said his dad used to work with you. Well gotta get ready for church. Later man. Bob...............

We had a great time at NSS last night. I especially enjoyed seeing some of my fiercest competitors from back in the day (Dickie Anderson & Leroy Porter to name a few) and exchanging war stories with them. It's been over 25 years since I've seen them guys so we couldn't really get caught up in one night but we shared enough old time Florida Short Track racin BS in an hour to fill a phone book!

Man-o-man what a change! I hadn't been to NSS since the early eighties. Concrete slabs??!! HAHAHa....when we raced there, we parked and worked on the car in the grass out on the corner of SR-44 & 415. Lots of great memories came rolling back though as soon as I rolled up to the place.

As far as the racing was concerned, I enjoyed it overall. However, I didn't see much passing. (Where's the passing??)

I was there as guest of my Nephew & crew in the Super Lates so I paid most of my attention to that race where out of a 33-car field, there was only a few making legitimate passes, Justin Drawdy & Tim Russell. All other position changes were either by attrition or wreck.

One driver really impressed me though big-time. The 13-yr old winner of the Crate LM race; Logan Ruffin. That kid's got a truck load of natural talent for his age. If he stays healthy and in the business, you're going to hear a lot of that kid's name in the future.

Sounds like y'all had a busy night down at CCMP. Hope everybody got out safe & sound.

You met Dave Cushing & his son huh? Yep, Dave worked for me for over 20 years. Dave's a great guy and a good man. I haven't spoken to him in several months but now I'll have to call him and razz him a little.

Did Chad have his racer there? He was racing street stocks & minis last I knew.

        Catch up with you later.

        Jim F.

Chad didn't have his race car with him. he showed me a picture of it on his phone. It looked good, but he is having money problems. Can't find enough sponsors. Did you know Kevin Shepard? you may have known Richis Thorbin. He was kevins father in law. Richie drove the #30 ss I think. He passed away in 2006 I think. Good old racing family. Well man I gotta go take a nap. We went out and ate lunch after church, so I gotta go sleep it off. LOL I'll catch you later man, Bob............
