Maybe the reason that attendance has been dropping over the last five years at most Florida stock car tracks is that the younger generation of drivers, like Boyd, are viewed as a bunch of spoiled, arrogant punks, who will only go as far as daddy's money or name will take them. The heroes of the past are disappearing fast, and maybe the fans have noticed.
Did anyone else listen to the Victory Lane interviews from New Smyrna on Friday night? Why were a few of the Florida winners arrogant and making cocky remarks towards other drivers (including derogatory remarks about beating northern drivers), while the non-Florida racers were professional, positive and took time to thank the fans? I was an Austin Kirkpatrick fan until I heard his interview on Friday night.
Frankly, it's a little depressing to be a Florida stock car racing fan right now, because there aren't too many stock car drivers that make a fan want to cheer for them.
Just one fans opinion.

You are right. Now don't get me wrong, there are many Florida drivers that are down to earth. But the ones that are not are not entirely at fault. I could name several whos Daddies yell at the kid to take this guy out, run over that guy. Most start in the truck series at first, spend big money and move on. I personally have no real problem with Jason Boyd, i hear he's finally growing up. At one time he drove for a friend of mine and his attitude was so bad to ther owner my wife was going to knock his head off, and she could of too. I personally wanted to kill him myself. This was during the time he was on the Roush Gong Show. If he had a decent attitude then we would be watching him today in the 500. So if he has finally decided to grow up a little, I'm happy for him and wwish him the best of luck. But, my point is, big time racing does not want this attitude. I guarantee you take the Florida drivers to some of the New England tracks they never raced with and they will get spanked. Its guys like David Rogers and many others that made racing what it should be.
