He was the fastest car out there for sure. Too bad the fans onlly got to see him pass two or three cars all weekend.

Looking at the results, I saw that 2nd was taken by Corey Conley, who I believe is from WV. I once saw him win an East Bay Modified Nationals race over a 100+ car field. The guy is no slouch by any means.

Some of the names in there I'm not familiar with, but to beat Conley, you HAVE to have your act together.

After hearing that Matthews started on the pole and led every lap Saturday night i'm glad i didn't make the 2 1/2 hour drive up I-75 from Tampa. This is a perfect example of whats wrong with short track racing in Fla. When are track owners and/or promoters going to understand, it's all about the "SHOW" and there is "NO SHOW" when the fast cars start in the front. Back in the day there wasn't a better "SHOW" than Jimmy Cope, Dave Pletcher, or Dave Scarborough starting in the back of the pack of a 30 lap Late Model feature at the "Shine"..... hell, some nights we never even sat down during the feature. The last time i looked, it was called RACING. If i had the fastest car in the field, and started on the pole, and led every lap i sure wouldn't feel like i RACED anyone.

          If I recall.....

..he started on the pole friday and started 3rd on sat. He won friday, I think he should have started scratch on Sat.

Yes, Corey Conley is from West Virginia, Wellsburg to be precise. His hometrack is Midway Speedway a 1/3 mile dirt track in beautiful Perry County in the Crooksville/New Lexington area, near the famous Hocking Hills State Park.
