On behalf of myself, Angie and the entire staff at Ocala Speedway thank you to the 153 drivers that made our first practice.
Mike
And I will add some extra thanks. To all of the drivers and teams, and even the throngs of fans who showed up to watch, you guys were fantastic! Not only were you there and having fun along with us, but you also were helpful and friendly despite a pit area that will filled to overflowing. I understand that problem will be corrected by the practice on the 16th. Growing pains are a good thing, right? And thank you for all of the compliments on the facility, on the track, and on the staff. You made us feel exceptionally happy and proud!
I have been a regular and racer at Ocala for many years, but something happened last night that has never happened before. I have never had to stand in line to pee. This is not a complaint and I am looking forward to this happening all year........
Thanks to Mike and Angie for making what needed to happen actually happen.
Plenty of big name asphalt drivers there as well. Pratt, Jeff and Jason Chequett(spelling), Wayne Anderson seen in the pits, and many others.
153 cars, 28 late models, and a bunch of modifieds........non stop for 5 hours of "practice".
Gonna' do it again in two weeks

P.S. There was one winged sprint there last night and just messin' round I timed him at 13.8 seconds.
RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.
A few pics are up now at www.myspace.com/ocalaspeedway. Others have been sent to Karnac and other places for publication if they so choose. there will be more pics coming later this week, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, check this out!

Congratulations on the first practice session. I hope the excitement continues. I can't wait till the racing begins. It will be nice to have a dirt track within an hours drive of me.

That is one awesome turnout of cars!
I know it makes you feel good to see your hard work all winter show you the beginning of what you were wanting to accomplish.
Good luck with the beginning of, and throughout, your 1st (back to dirt) season and i will before the end of this season make it down to catch a show.
Jim, you better be racing something this year especially the weekend i decide to grace you with my appearance.
I was flippin through some of my old pics from there and had a lot of fun at that track. as stubborn as i have sounded about the change i certainly don't want to see a track die, i guess the "build it and they will come" deal is working out.
BIG THUMBS UP!
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.
Glad to see the dirt come back...fans will see some exciting racing if they go watch it in person. Ocala is a very fast track...especially hauling into turn one! Maybe sprints again one day!
Congrats Angie and Mike! It great to have another "DIRT" track in Fla. I hope to run there sometime soon. Who was the winged sprint car? Was it a limited or a 360 injected? Just wondering, due to the lap time posted. Good luck and hope to race my winged sprinter on this track soon.

I snapped a shot of the sprint car sitting in the pits before the practice began, so maybe someone can identify it or the driver. Here it is:
