electric Golf carts

Does anyone work with electric golf carts? I want to try something and I need some advice. I want to put 3 12 volt batteries in my cart. I can get 3 deep cycle 12volts a lot cheaper than 6 6 volt batteries. Will that work?

You will still have 36 volts, but less amps. Which means the range will be shortened. Get the highest CCA rating they have for longer range. With 3 less batteries you will have room for a couple 6 packs on ice.......
