BRUNSWICK, Ga. (Jan. 30) — Pulling away after a lap-36 restart, Scott Bloomquist raced to a $10,000 victory in the fifth round of Golden Isles Speedway's Super Bowl of Racing IV.
Bloomquist faced an early challenge from Shane Clanton and a mid-race challenge from polesitter Chris Madden, but with clear track on the caution with 14 laps remaining, Bloomquist edged away from the field.
Madden finished a straightaway behind in second with Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colo., who started ninth, posting an impressive third-place finish. Jimmy Owens, who started fifth but got shuffled back to the 10th spot early, came alive on the lap-36 restart to go from seventh to fourth, where he finished.
Tim Fuller, who started seventh, stayed in the mix throughout the race and ended up fifth despite a flat tire on the last lap.
Three cautions slowed the action, including two on laps nine and 13 when Mark Vineyard twice spun in turn two. The lap-36 caution appeared when Stacy Holmes spun and hit the turn-three wall.
Finish: (1) Scott Bloomquist, (2) Chris Madden, (3) Kelly Boen, (4) Jimmy Owens, (5) Tim Fuller, (6) Shane Clanton, (7) Tim McCreadie, (8) Josh Richards, (9) Clint Smith, (10) Michael England, (11) Brady Smith, (12) Steve Shaver, (13) Randle Chupp, (14) Justin Rattliff, (15) Dennis Erb Jr., (16) Ivedent Lloyd Jr., (17) Donnie Moran, (18) Rick Eckert, (19) Patrick Sheltra, (20) Terry Casey, (21) Stacy Holmes, (22) Jason Fitzgerald, (23) Earl Pearson Jr., (24) Billy Moyer, (25) Mark Vineyard.
