  • Who's gonna be at opening night at VSP?

I am probably gonna be there for nights 1-2 then NSS Fri-Sun depending on the racing.

Nothing quite like the endless stream of UMP mods and Sprints at VSP. Only downside is the endless stream cautions that seem to accompany the UMPs.

Opening night is so hit and miss I don't know what to do. Sometimes it's rubber down, sometimes it's not. VSP can be both thrilling and dull depending on track prep.

It's always a crap shoot for me trying to figure out what nights to go to VSP and and what nights to go to NSS.

Oh I'm SO there!...Tuesday & Wednesday the track should be wicked fast. Thursday it will be OK and Friday, Saturday & Sunday it will be rubbered down...Gotta get the NEW Wild Child shirt in the R19 ride!...

But I'll be there Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday maybe NSS with the TBARA. Monday NSS yes with the TBARA!

No doubt about the track prep, it seems like they usually have it for openeing night, but night two is questionable depending whether they turn it or not. When it is on though, that place is ridiculous.

Bubba I've seen them turn it at the end of the night the last two years. The problem is from talking to a couple sprint car drivers is that they don't turn it deep enough. So by Friday the same 4 to 6 inches of dirt has been turned and has plenty of rubber...Not to mention the 100 UMP mods.

I'd say do it like Eldora. Qualify the sprints. One maybe two mod heat races while they get the line ups set. Heat race the sprints. Third mod heat. B Main. Then the sprint dashes. Fourth mod heat. Sprint feature, then let the mods do whatever they do...We paid to see the sprints not the mods!

I love the sprints but I pay to see the modifieds too. Just because you have a prejudice for the sprints, don't think there aren't modified fans just as fanatic as you.

Winger I do have a prejudice for sprints, but I don't mind a good mod show once in a while. But because they bring so many cars (a good problem to have) the show runs long...You can get a mod race just about any Saturday night in the state of Florida but you only get the World of Outlaws sprints for 6 nights at Volusia if you count the All-Stars 3 days.

Sorry if I offended you but that $35 ticket isn't paying the mod purse.

I'll be there for the All Stars, but the WOO is to pricey for me. Also, I'm leaving the motor home at home and driving up each night. The campground is $20.00 per night. Pure robbery. I'll also be at NSB Sunday, and probably Monday nights. From then it's hit and miss. billy

Haudfan, you didn't offend me and my statement was misunderstood. My fault for writing it in a hurry. I love the sprints, don't get me wrong. But, I grew up around the DIRT modifieds (big blocks) from the North east. You can't see them every week in Florida. I will travel to see just them, even with the sprints on the card. Hopefully, I get to East Bay to watch the sprints and late models. But I really want to get to Volusia to see the DIRT modifieds from the North East. Seeing the sprints or even the WoO Late models will just be icing on the cake.

Winger I like the DIRT mods. Its the UMP mods I have a hard time with. Again, not because they're bad racers but because the shere numbers of them. Sat next to a couple of guys from NY that run DIRT mods and they taught me a few things...To me the whole idea behind Speedweeks is to see cars or travelling organizations we don't normally get to see in FL.

I like both classes, but I do think that running the Sprints first would help the show. It seems like the bad track has a bigger affect on them than the UMPs.

I hope they listen to the feedback and take a different approach to the track mtce. Although with that much racing, not sure what they can really do, you can only turn so much track before you hit dirt.

I too do everything possible to see the DIRT Mods since I grew up on them. And sadly I think that class will start to disappear as more of their stars move to late models unless they can get costs under control.

HaudFan - you wouldn't have to buy a new Wild Child t-shirt every year if you would just surrender and become a Terry McCarl fan.

Tripper the new Wild Child shirt every year is payback from not having to buy an Elden Racing Pennzoil shirt for about 5 or 6 years...I like McCarl, especially after the TV race last summer where he waved as he passed for the lead.

I can't wait to see all the new paint schemes and driver team combos at Volusia!

I was a T-Mac fan for life after he did that. That was classic. Nobody going to see the 360's at East Bay?
