  • Race car wraps

I was looking for info and a recommendation. I see quite a few cars at the tracks and on the "for sale" forums that have vinyl wraps. I have looked into this a bit for my car, and it seems a bit pricey. Can any of you guys give me an idea of what it should cost to wrap a late model, and who you would recommend that would do a decent job at a fair price? Thanks in advance!

My recommendation would be a 'half-wrap'... they can do it in one pass and still do quite a few neat things... should cost around $500 - $700 depending on the design and how intricate...

If I ever get a Vinyl Printer (as opposed to the cutter I have now) I will be in the 'wrapping' business...

One thing to look out for is 'clipart'... there are literally hundreds of pre-existing files out there from companies like Aurora Graphics that people use and then claim they are original and want you to pay for the design... Some people have more money than talent and just because they can afford a nice $13k machine and some pricey DVD's they think they are a 'designer'...

Depending on the effect you're looking for, sometimes it is cheaper to stay with solid colors and cut vinyl as opposed to the more expensive printed wraps and you can still get a very nice looking car!

Wraps are easier to do and maintain on dirt cars as opposed to asphalt Late Models just simply because you are dealing with flat panels... Half-wraps go up anywhere from a few to 30" along the side of the car which keeps the labor cheaper because you are not trying to wrap around curved fenders and such.

BIGGEST piece of advice is to know what you want... Don't just let someone do what they want on YOUR racecar... Be vocal and remember that at the end of the day... you are paying them and it is YOUR racecar not theirs.

(if I sound a little bitter I apologize... I've been a designer for 17 years and nothing pisses me off more than people with more money than talent that get business just because they can afford nicer/better equipment!)

Thanks for the info, Mark. The problem for me is in the case of my car, it needs either a full paint job, or a full wrap. At this point, it looks like the paint job will be cheaper, but I was curious what a full wrap would cost.

This car was painted with Rust-O-Leum fairly cheap and came out alright... (I wasn't quite done with the vinyl when the photo was taken)

But this is an example of what you can do with some cheap paint and cut vinyl as opposed to a wrap.

I have seen that car in person, and it looks very nice for a low cost paint job! Was it sprayed on or brushed on? Could you do those graphics for me?

One car that appeared to be fully wrapped and absolutely gorgeous that raced at Auburndale this year was Kyle Hall's #17 Street Stock... would like to know who did the work because the car has a "beach scene" paint job...

                    Off season pricing.

Jacko call 813-526-9351. Cara at Signage Pro in Tampa she is giving a 25% off season pricing. She has about 6 or 7 in process right now.A Pro Truck, two Open Wheels, and three or four Winged Sprints. You do not need to have a full wrap. A mix can save you money and make it cheaper to keep up. She can ship you the graphics if you can apply and save you even more. Let her know want you have and the price range your looking to spend. Merry Chrismas!!!!!!!!

We can do vinyl lettering to full wraps in house so we can make a quick turn around while keeping the cost lower and work within your budget. We are a full service sign shop. We can also make rendering of the car so you can see how it would look before you actually order. Please feel free to give us a call at 904-210-6579 or victorygraphicsusa.com
