  • Some positive NASCAR moves so far this year

Ok, we all like to complain about Nascar (and other sanctioning bodies) so I decided to post some of the changes that Nascar has implemented for this year that I think are positives.

    1. Earlier and consistent starting times. Most of the afternoon races will have a 2:00 pm starting time.

    2. Go or go home cars will qualify as a group at the end of qualifying.

    3. Nascar fines will go to Nascar Foundation for charities this year.

    4. Coor's Light replaces Bud as the official beer of Nascar

    5. Pit Road rule changes restricting pushing of cars. Also, cars may not receive any assistance after the white flag has been displayed, except those cars making pit stops. I assume this is to prevent a team mate from pushing a team car that is running out of gas.

    6. The COT (car of today) will participate in all races. Personally, I'd prefer "real" stock appearing cars but I'll compromise.

    7. Coor's Light replaces Bud as the official beer of Nascar
guess I just like the Silver Bullet.
    ---------------------------------------------

Now here are some changes that are being discussed. Both a little controversial but I think would be positive in the long run.

    1. NASCAR to increase age requirement? They are discussing raising the age to race in the Sprint Cup to 21 and leaving the age at 18 for truck and Nationwide series.

    2. NASCAR to not give Cup drivers points in Nationwide races? In hopes of giving the Nationwide Series its own identity, NASCAR officials are considering one future option that would stop Cup regulars from earning points in the feeder league.

I'll stop the list here. Please feel free to add anything I've forgotten. Try to stay positive with this post. We could start another thread with ideas we think should be done but I don't want to get into that yet. I'd rather bi#*h a little at a time.

Nascar has already pushed under funded teams out of "Sprint Cup" by this top 35 BS. Then by letting all the Cup regulars compete as much as they do in "The Nationwide Series", they are pushing the little guys and up and commers out of that series too. I really hope Nascar fixes that problem before guys like Kirk Shelmerdine and Morgan Shepherd are completely gone.

I disagree with 4&7 But since I don't go to any Nascar races I guess I'm good to go with it. So Beers to ya.

During pit stops. No more rolling the tires back to the pit wall. Teams must carry the tire at least half to the pit wall.

On the Cup drivers in Nationwide series, here's my take:

Why don't they just just make one set of rule, one common car, qualified everybody on Friday, non qualifiers runs a 200 laps or miles Saturday and top 43 or so run a 400 laps //miles Sunday.

No body goes home, fans, sponsors and drivers are happy, every body race and every fan see his favorite driver race.

Sprint stays as major sponsor for Sunday race & Nationwide stays for Saturday race.

It's a rough plan to start with, but, by rounding off the corner, I'm sure it could work.

Now that doesnt sound like a bad idea. Except I would still keep cup seperate from nationwide. Like run non qualifiers race before Nationwide race. I bet 80 cup cars would show up because less than up to snuff racers could make races.

Do a point system that has 1st place pay the equivilant of 44th place points and so on. Therefore someone who races in the non qualifier race would get points. I bet you could end up seeing 100 cars or more with points.

Plus it would give Kyle Petty a chance to win a race. hahaha
