Old School Comes to New Smyrna!

Just saw on the Old School Racing Tour schedule page that they're scheduled to run at New Smyrna on Thursday, July 3, 2008, just before the Firecracker at Daytona. Anyone wanna meet up for this show??

Some great names on this tour: Marcis, Gant, Pearson, Ingram, Bodine, Larry Moore (yes, the dirt Larry Moore!), Trickle, and many others are signed. Looks like they'll be running old-school (2007!) Cup cars. Just saw on Jayski that Gant's bringing back the Bandit for this tour! I guess they previewed this thing at the PRI show last month.

Not sure if this'll be all show and no go, or if these good ol' boys'll race 'em hard or what...but they've got a ten-race schedule starting at Concord, heading to Nashville (the short track!), Hickory, Langley, South Boston, and SpringPort(?) (in Michigan). Would love to see these guys beat the hell outta the cars, racin' hard and takin' each other out and all that...and not just put on an "exhibition" race.

Don't really count on Larry Moore being involved. Apparently, his wife may have something to say about him getting behind the wheel again.

From what I've seen about this series, it also includes a race at Eldora (Cup cars on Dirt), and the season finale, to be held also at NSS, during Speedweeks of '09.

From PRI:

I spoke with them and found out a few things. As of the trade show they did not have enough cars for every driver to run every race. They will limit them to I believe 6 of the races per season plus the championship. All cars will be prepared identically and the drivers will draw to find out which car they have once they get to the track. Safety adjustments will be made but that is about it. That means you might see Gant in some one else's colors etc.
Also, the frames and bodies have been put together with the idea of easy replacement so you should see some action. These aren't show cars so to speak. Between that race and the Sunbelt race it should be a good night.

Hopefully I will have my "land legs" back by then. My family is treating me to a cruise the weekend before my birthday. The one my husband and I took in Sept. that was sponsored by Ford Motor Co., it took me more than a week to get to where I didn't look like I had one too many to drink.

That is neat, enjoy the cruise, my wife wants to take a cruise but the Titanic was booked. She wants to go to Alaska but is afraid when we take the boat out so far she can not see land. Enjoy!!
