Terry Mock who raced many years at Jax Raceways passed away in his sleep last night (10/12/10). He will be missed by all.

I imagine that was the same Terry Mock that ran at VSP years ago - damn, he was my favorite as a kid - him and Homer Williams.

Damn Ronnie, I hate to hear that. We raced with Terry back in the 70's and 80's. I had not seen Terry for quite a few years. Ran into him in the pits a couple of years ago, he was helping his son with his modified. We had a nice talk. Terry was a real good racer and the Mocks are a good family. My thoughts and prayers are with the Mock family.

You are right Bubba, Both had good looking cars and they both ran their asses off putting on a show where ever they ran.

WOW! I hate to hear that!! Terry was a GREAT guy! I think he tried his hand at Daytona...didn't he...seems to me that the car flipped.

I knew his sister and brother in law when I lived in Jacksonville for a short time!

My thoughts and prayers are out to his family!

              Terry Mock

Terry flipped 16 times the very first time he raced at Daytona in the Permatex 300, he was then at Volusia the same night racing his dirt car. Terry was a great racer and friend who I will truly miss. Very strong family man and always raced clean. I grew up watching him race right after he started at old Jacksonville Speedway, on to the days of Golden Isles, Volusia, Columbia County, Lake City and then Jax Raceways. He will be missed.

Man, that picture of the old blue and white 44 brings back some memories. Thanks for posting Dave.

Terry was indeed one of my favorites too at Volusia in the years shortly after I moved to Fla in 72. He ran up front all the time and impressed me with his hard charging and clean style. Never forget the night of the big fire on the front straight with his old 64 Chevelle, I thought he was a goner for sure!
Bones heal, chicks dig scars, pain is temporary but GLORY is FOREVER!! Or, the older I get the faster I WAS!

Hey everyone. I came across this thread via Google.

I'm one of Terry's nephews, Roger. Some of you may have met my dad, Randy, at the race track before. The past couple days have been pretty rough for everyone. We all miss Terry very much. This has been a huge shock for all of us. I was searching around online for pictures and videos of my uncle as a way to remember him, and I came across this thread.

ancrdave, I saw you had a couple pics of Terry that you posted. Do you have anymore?

Also, does anyone have any footage of his wreck at Daytona in the Permatex 300? A few of us have been looking for it online, but can't find it. I'm pretty sure that its been featured on TV before. I've been told stories about it, but I've never seen it myself and I'd like to.

                    Thanks,
                    Roger Mock

                        Done.

I've found out every detail about that big wreck (Feb. 15, 1975 at the Permatex 300 in Daytona with Red Farmer) except a video. I believe Terry had a reel to reel of it, but we haven't found it.

                          Roger,
Here are a coupleof pics fo Terry in 1977, he drove this same car in 1976 hitting the wall in turn 3 after the engine locked up. Wide World of Sports had taped the races back then, but missed the shot of the wreck in 1975. The flipping started after him and Red Farmer got together on the start, then Terry ran across a drainige ditch on the infield of turn 1 which actually got it flipping. Sorry for your families loss, he will be missed.

You might try Rare Sportsfilms FL Phone 630-527-8890. If that # doesn't work you can google the firm name to see if they have a web site. I have numerous Daytona films from them in the very early 60s. I do not know how extensive their library is but I hope it helps you.

Roger or anyone, how old was Terry? His age was not listed in his obit in the Times-Union.
                              Thanks
