Sticky Notes?

What makes a thread into a sticky note? Is t the amount of reads or number of posts? I have looked through the site and can't find an explanation for them......

Typically, a "Sticky" is a thread that Admin choses as such. It is not automatically made into a "Sticky" by number of posts, etc.

At least that's how it works on most boards including the one where I am an admin.

It is typically either a popular thread or one whose content has a positive contribution to the purpose of the board. It is a thread that admin expects to have alot of traffic on hence, they elect to make it a "Sticky", which keeps it "stuck" to the top of the forum so the members don't have to go scrolling thru a lot of pages on the forums to look for it.

I kinda figured out the "why" of the whole deal but some of them haven't been active in a while so I wondered if it was a metered type of deal.
