  • Desoto Super Speedway

Desoto Super Speedway is for sale. I don't have much to say except that I hope that some land developer don't buy it. It is ashame all of the florida tracks are going for sale it just shows how bad the economy is.

(If you are wondering why I said I hope that a land developer don't buy it go look at the last part of my replies to my post about USA International Speedway)

      Desoto

John had it on ebay last year, had 3 bids over 2 million dollars.
Why didn't he sell then ?

        no one

is going to build next to a dragstrip and Todd is not going to sell. Of course, for the right price anything is for sell.

I have one of those neigborhood air strip communities near me, where many people own small aircraft, and keep them in oversized garages on their properties. They can taxi from their house, to the community air strip, and take off/land. It's actually the nicest community in my area. It seems that people who can afford a personal aircraft can usually afford a pretty nice home too.

I always thought the drag strip next to the Desoto Speedway is vastly underutilized, and would make a very attractive neighbor for a land developer, who might want to use it on the off-racing days, for an air strip community. It would be pretty simple to build a connecting taxi path to the community, and folks could take off/land on days that the drag strip isn't being used.

Having an air strip available for use would increase the land value for the adjacent neighborhood also. It seems like it would be a win-win for both owners. Racing complexes and land developments can co-exist, and even thrive, if they work together.
