  • Photos in the winners circle

I would like to ask this question. Does it really take up that much time to have pictures taken of the top 3 after a feature race?
I remember all my pictures from all the years I have gone to my home track and all the great memories they bring back. It is important to let your fans in the stands be able to put a face with a name, thats how kids pick their heros and idols on the track. I hope this opens some eyes and some tracks bring back the picture taking in the winners circle!

Its clear that the race photo business mirrors the general racing scene. In other words, business is bad. Give the track photographers a break and send them some business. Start a racing scrapbook for the kids or something, anything to make it worth their while.

I could not agree more. The photos are a good tool for your sponsors, both the team and the track, as well as fans. If you have an organized system it takes no time at all. The track (or series) photographer should go first and then other media photographers after.
What really takes long is when you have the track announcer do an interview, then a tv/video crew do the same, then the photographers get their turn, then all family, friends and the guy in turn 1 that has been coming for years. While it is important to all those people, I can see how it would be too long to those others who aren't a big fan of the winner. I do understand we need to keep time limits but these photos are important. I don't have a clear cut answer either on how you decide who gets their photo and who has to wait until later in the pits.
Now that being said, who wants some FAST series photos? Step right up... I have them here, ready to go into your hands lickety split... Seriously... Who wants some photos???

It would be nice to see the top three, in fact, you are lucky sometimes to get the winner. I know photographers are struggling also selling their photos and seldom make what they spend developing them.

I have a small photo gallery on www.floridadirttracknews.com where I put up weekly photos from all the photographers that send them in from dirt. Right now I have Ocala's, Southern Raceway and Northwest Florida Speedway photos. Some are just the winners and others are winners and action photos.
And if I am at a track, I will take the photos for the albums.

Good luck sweetie selling your photos. I know Jim struggles, Bob struggles, Winger struggles, Rick struggles, Chuck Green at Auburndale and others. They do great work but today the last thing most racers and fans do is spend money on photos.

Years ago I use to sell photos for the photographer at Orlando - say in the late 90's and early 2000. I think he got $4.00 for an 8 x 10 and today they are what - $10.00, $12.00. He finally left and gave up.

          Jane -

I thought Jim Jones had been there since the early 90's? What was your photographers name?

Beverly did the photos back then and then her brother took over for her. Right now, for the love of me, I can't remember his first name but I would walk the pits and sell his photos for him while he was taking more. He also had small photos (4 x 6) that we gave away when he left. And I still have some of them at my house from back then. But my mine slips me right now what his name was. I am sure Jim knows but Beverly was there and then he took over and then Jim came in.
