To our racing folks... I got this e-mail from a college friend from New Orleans who runs a public relations firm there... This is a pretty cool deal and gives you a chance to help those affected by the BP oil spill in Louisiana... Please read Ann's e-mail and check out the website... Any help is appreciated and you could win a rather unique momento...

I handle the PR for the HBA, which owns the New Orleans Home & Garden Show. We are launching a new interior design show next month and as part of the show we have included a non-profit component. We have partnered with Catholic Charities to help them with the Oil Spill Relief Fund. The fund is literally helping thousands and thousands of people impacted by the gulf oil spill. For those who don’t live in the area, trust me when I say this disaster is far from over. The impact is being felt all along the Gulf Coast and will be for months, if not years to come.
I know people are “donor fatigued,” tired of giving and never really knowing if the money is getting into the hands of those who really need it. That is why we created this fundraiser – the Shrimp Boot Fundraiser. We not only partnered with a non-profit that we can guarantee is working directly with those in need, but we’ve tried to do something fun that allows donors the opportunity to not only help, but to actually have a chance to get something back. We have taken an iconic symbol of South Louisiana – the white shrimp boot – and have invited local and national celebrities to decorate and autograph a boot that will be raffled. We were able to secure celebrities such as Saints Coach Sean Payton; Archie, Eli and Peyton Manning; the cast of three Broadway shows and the ever popular TV show “Glee.” Several musicians, chefs, artists and even Sushi, the sea lion at the Audubon Zoo, will have a boot in our raffle. I have enclosed below the link to the raffle site and ask that if you feel comfortable, to please forward this information on to all you know. We will update the site daily as the boots come in. Thanks in advance and please email me if you have any questions or concerns. Appreciate your help! Ann Christian.
