Michigan might be the worst for me, but what NASCAR track do you "dislike" the most? Pocono, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fontana, Dover, Louden and both road course tracks are like taking two Zanax after Thanksgiving dinner.

Michigan and Fontana are horrid for TV. Its hard to tell the straights from the corners, and the cars look slow even though they are hauling butt. Its part of the reason I quit watching racing on TV years ago.

The Worst?--
Any, and all of the 1.5 Milers, cookie-cutter Raceways that were built ad-nauseum a few years back.
But Las Vegas did destroy itself and rebuild it again with tons of high-banked features. And grandstand work, pitside work as well. It get's the pass.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway is somewhat outdated by todays standards on TV, or in the stands for that matter. But it's still INDY. Actual historical grounds for racing fans. Yes, the sightlines are not good, and the Raceway is narrow, but it's still INDY. If you have been there, you would know why.
Taladega Speedway towers over Daytona all the way. On TV, it looks the same.
Michgan is alright, Pocono was built to represent Three very distictive turns from three very different Raceways. Turn one(1) Pocono is te same as Trenton,NJ Speedway, 14 degree banking. Turn two(2) is the same as any of INDY;s 4 corners, at 9 degree banking, and turn 3 at Pocono is the exact same as the old Milwaukee Miler(sp) at 6 degree banking.
Phoenix Raceway has 3 different turns also. All 3 are different. On TV, it's alright, somewhat.
But when I hear the Boogity, Boogity crap from NASCAR's best, the power nap on the coutch is on, big time--but this only comes after doing all the chores around the house, yards, fields, and fleet of trucks and trailers.
NAP-ON, NASCAR FRIENDS. The Dream-State Sub-co awaits your dreams....... of Orlando Speedworld with packed pits and stands.Last edited by AB195; 08-15-2010, 11:14 PM.

The only time I even bother watching NASCAR is when they're racing at Bristol, Martinsville, Talladega, Daytona, Dover and the road courses. And then, I usually only watch the first and last 50 laps or so. Attention span problems, I guess.sigpic

TINYTIMDDS, if you are from the Irish Hill area, have you ever heard of Harold Shield of Manchester Mich. ? He was one of my favorite drivers at Butler Motor Speedway. A couple of years after we moved to Fla. in 1965, Harold was involved in a three car wreck, and went about forty feet in the air and landed upside down. Resulting injuries left him totally parlized from the neck down. I was wondering if he is still alive. His parents built Manchester Speedway on some of their land, so Harold could practice all he wanted. Shortly after his accendent they closed the track down. Manchester Speedway ran on friday nights, Butler Motor Speedway, in Quincy Mich., ran on saturday nights, and Bryan Speedway, in Bryan Ohio, ran on sundays Harold use to race and win at all three tracks.Last edited by oneoff; 08-16-2010, 01:53 PM.

I think you’re thinking of Harold Schill.
According to one of his son’s (Dennis) post on the
Manchester Speedway Message Board he was still
doing well back in May of last year.
Surprising also to read that Grandpa, Veryl Schill
that built the track is still hanging in there at 95-years
old albeit now understandably in ill health.
Here are some shots of Harold from back in the day
posted by his son Dennis on the board.

I think you’ll find a lot of information as well as photos
of interest to you HERE on the Manchester board.
While you’re at it, there’s a link at the top right of the
page (“Motor Speedways”) that give access to all the
Michigan tracks, status, pics, etc.

These are the Cup races I WILL WATCH or attend occasionally.
*Daytona-Some people hate it but 35 cars in a giant pack, all within a few seconds of each other is exciting.
*Talladega-Same
*Bristol-Used to be a great, slam bang tribute to short track racing but has lost some appeal the last few years
*Sonoma-I really like when drivers from other forms of racing try out the stock cars. Pretty good racing for a road course.
The remaining 29 races are great to catch up on lost sleep from the previous week.

Just me but I do not like Daytona and Talladega. Guess if you like the "Big one" they always talk about all day then its o'k. They are a little better with the new rules etc. but I still find them boring for about 450 miles. I like the shorter tracks and road races. I'm sure the road races are hard to watch live but on TV its great. What a challenge to set the cars up to turn both ways. Wife and i really enjoyed Martinsville, THATS racing to me. 100+ Down straights and 60 in the turns, now that requires car control. What about yrs ago when the old Mods, big blocks, coupes with no power steering 500 miles?

[/QUOTE Youre probably right, I was sleeping like I do thru most NASCAR races, but lots of racers say the same thing about Newman, he used to be so bad that one of the older x-box "NASCAR " games had it programed in that he would bump every car that came beside him. That was when he was Rusty Wallaces team mate at PENSKE.
How much of this hate for Logano is because he drives a TOYOTA?? Just asking.
Remember i said "You're probably right"
