  • CCS, CCMP, & PGS Track supporter lost her battle with cancer.

The Charlotte County, CCMP, and PGS lost a supporter of the Speedway.
Audrey Seay lost her fight with cancer and now will be watching from heaven (probably the best seat in the house). She was one of those special people that had her heart in the community. She selflessly shared her knowledge to those of us trying to improve the community she called home. She instilled this community spirit in her two sons and two daughters. Her whole family has supported the Speedway. Her sons often came to the track whenever they were in town. Her daughter, Pam Seay, has supported the track as an avid race fan, supporter, and as part of the Charlotte County Airport Authority Commissioners (the landlord of the speedway). Anne Marie has been a competitor and mentor that I asked for guidance about the running of the track from the racer’s point of view. Perry, her loving husband is a close friend and mentor to me. Without him I truly believe the track would have fallen years ago in the midst of the country’s financial upheaval. He would show up by 9:00 to work almost every day during the week. He would do anything that was needed to keep the track a safe and looking its best for the fans and racers. He was there for the love of the track. He never asked for a dime.
We, that got the chance to meet and know her, will always remember her smile, and the twinkle in her eye. Audrey, you will be missed but never forgotten. God bless you. Please join me in saying a prayer for her loving family. We will all miss Audrey Seay and her unfailing love of Punta Gorda.

Here is her Obituary from the Charlotte Sun:
    Audrey B. Seay
Audrey Boschen Seay, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly of Trenton, Michigan and Richmond, Virginia, passed away at her home on July 27, 2010. Mrs. Seay was a longtime member of the Charlotte County Board of Zoning Appeals and the County Planning and Zoning Committee. Earlier in the day, the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners had named July 27 as "Audrey B. Seay Day" in honor of her contributions to the County.
Mrs. Seay was born November 30, 1930 in Richmond, Virginia where she graduated from Stuart Circle Hospital Nurses' Training. She married Perry Seay Jr., also of Richmond, Virginia, in 1951 and they moved briefly to Seattle, Washington then to Michigan where she spent most of her life.
In Michigan, Mrs. Seay was elected to the Trenton City Council several times, and served as Mayor. During her terms of office, she was instrumental in building the new city hall and worked to save the Trenton Theatre. She was appointed by then-Governor George Romney to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, and served on the PCHA (Peoples Community Hospital Authority) Board. In Trenton, she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister.
She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BA in Sociology, and earned a Master's degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan. She became a member of Soroptomist International in the 1980s and continued her active participation for over 30 years.

From the 1940s until her death, she traveled annually to her family home in Deltaville, Virginia and was an active member of the Hunton Creek Improvement Association.
She retired in 1990 and moved to Port Charlotte with her husband. In Florida, she organized the local unit of the FL 2 Disaster Medical Assistance Team, the first of its kind in Southwest Florida, and was part of the team that responded to Hurricanes Andrew and Opal. She was very active in her community, including service on the board of the Deep Creek Civic Association and Team Punta Gorda. She chaired the Art in Public Place Committee for the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County, and was instrumental in bringing the ArtTrain to Charlotte County. She was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir and was also in the Bell Choir. She was among the choir members who sang for Pope Benedict XVI in Rome in March 2008.
She and her best friend, Virginia R. Lebold of Trenton, Michigan, were world travelers, visiting dozens of countries in Europe, South America, and Asia. Their exploits included climbing the Great Wall of China, fishing for piranha in the Amazon, seeing King Tut's tomb in Egypt, and praying in Jerusalem.
