More??....
Last year my wife and I worked the front gate at Ocala. An apparent pregnant woman came through the gate holding her stomack, when suddenly a 'bucket' of KFC fell down and then out from under her shirt.....BUSTED.
Another couple came through with a stroller and infant carrying a large diaper bag. When I ask him to open the bag it revealed a six pack of beer on ice.....BUSTED.
Don't want to add fuel to the fire, but a lot of stuff can be brought in hidden on the race car.....on the fuel cell or under the hood........
If people want to bring contriband into the track, they will find a way. Some even avoid buying a pit pass by hiding in a trunk or other spot in the hauler.
But that's a whole new thread.

Hey Jim... where can I hide to get into the pits free!
Hell, Mike and Angie don't make money off me at the gate... they make a killing off me at the hamburger stand.
If you see a hauler dragging its ass going past the gate.. its my big ass hiding in the back! (probably with a sandwich in each hand)Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

DRIVER AND RACE TEAMS
We are asking you help support CCMP with this rule the track is a business and has to make a profit so we can not let people just bring in what they want into the pits this can not be done at any other sport event.
From their website.
CARRY-IN ITEMS
Any carry-in item larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches, hard containers/coolers, glass bottles or cans will not be allowed into Tropicana Field. Food items and water are allowed. All food brought in must be contained in a clear plastic bag. Bottled water must be sealed and no more than one liter in volume.

dumb rule!!! they should be glad that people still choose to racing! open your eye's people. we are in a resession!!!! dnt raise prices, when the racers stop coming, your screwed! because business is slow, dont punish us drivers! find away to put fans in the stans and find cost cutting ways... not bankrupt the drivers. we were gonna go to ccmp this year to try and support the track. but after reading this, were staying put!

I brought in my own snacks, soda and water.
and from the rules i'm reading, you can still do so. what rules are you reading?
i agree that they haven't made the best presentation on this but i have to agree with MrSouth59. the actual facts of the rule don't look that odd to me.
"no bbq grills" can be blamed on the insurance company. "no fast food" is flaky, but how the heck are they going to enforce that? "no alcohol in the pits" is a standard rule at every track i've ever been too. and pretty much always ignored after the races are over.
I've seen track food that could be considered a safety hazard also.
touche'.

i've got a better idea.
1. pull up in front of the pit window with your tow rig.
2. throw a McDonald's bag full of burger wrappers plus a half dozen empty beer bottles on the ground in front of the gate.
3. raise your fist out the open window, lay on the horn and yell, "I'm legal now, beaches!"
4. get it all on video and post it here
5. profit!
can you imagine if the Punta Gorda drivers pulled an Alice's Restaurant Massacree with 20 or 30 of them doing this? hilarity.Racers Supporting Racers - for all your Vero Beach area automotive repair needs:

PART OF THE FAMILY ATOMSHERE IN THE PITS IS TO SIT DOWN TO A GEART MEAL COOKED ON THE GRILL. AND NO FLA. THIS DON'T SOUND FAIR!
Rick. Don't try and put this on Mr South. I just posted what was writen no the other board. I don't have anything to do with it. I never said "No other sport does this". All's I said is that I didn't think it was to unreasonable. I never even stated my opinion on the subject. Just a lot of people are trying to twist around what was writen. Your post with all caps was uncalled for towards me.
For my opinion. The only thing I had a problem was the no bbqing rule. I bbq outside BEFORE EVERY FEATURE. I always have and always will. I will just have to do it differently on my George Foreman in my trailer. And instead of buying my chicken at KFC I will buy it at publix I guess. I can still bring all the food I want and all the drinks I want and all of the snacks I want. The only thing it changes is the bbqing. Not to unreasonable.
I will bet that if we all voice our opinion to the track about the bbqing that we could get that changed also.

There goes racing...
We always brought our own food into the pits. Drivers usually don't eat before a race so when they are done racing, they eat! Your track will loose alot of racers if you go this direction. You can bring food into Citrus and Auburndale. I know we used to bring it into all tracks in Florida.
If this happens, there goes racing for the families that go for fun...
