Ron, that was not my call but obviously my fault. When Andy first put his stories on the message board just as a fan, we let them stay. But then he became MEDIA for FASCAR and I was told that race stories from media do not belong on the message board so they were moved where I was told they should go. I really don't want to explain this again please.

You can still enjoy Andy's stories just in race results and the front page. They are still there. But you fuss at me and yet none of his stories are on the fascar site but the Red Eye story. Not the PASS story or the one he wrote from Night 1 of the World Series. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at FASCAR for not posting his stories.

I like to apologise to anyone if I did anything wrong. I posted what happen at East Bay last Saturday and I didn't know I wasn't supposed to post what happen at the race. I'm sorry if I upset anyone.

You did nothing wrong and you have nothing to apologzie for. You were just a fan writing about your adventure at East Bay but you do not need to apologize for anything. You are welcome to do that and put up results anytime. I know you aren't the writer for East Bay because he sent me his press release that night. I am sorry everyone is so confused on this. As far as I know, Andy is the writer for NSS and Orlando. What he writes is for FASCAR since he is the media and is therefore a story for release. Now, if he was just writing for himself and no track, that would be different but he said earlier that he was doing the media for the World Series. So if that is wrong, please, Andy let me know.

I'm starting to get the picture here. I guess it doesn't matter so much who you are, or what you write, it's a matter if that person is getting PAID for it. It never seemed to be a problem when Andy was just "a fan" writing about his adventures, but now that he's "Media" (read that as PAID employee... which I'm not so sure is true either) it's become a problem.

Come on Jane... this is KARNAC, not the New York Times or Wall Street Journal. In this lower end of the journalism world, the title "MEDIA" only means that a track will trade you a free admission in exchange for some free exposure for their track. Fair enough trade for most race writers. But apparently not good enough for some.

When you become a PAID writer, the track you work for expects everything to be placed in a positive light. you HAVE to tell a story about the "excellent" and "exciting" races... even if they suck badly. Tell me the last time you wrote something critical of your employers. I never heard it from you when YOU worked for FASCAR. And I don't see it happening from Volusia stories either.

Karnac is supposed to be the one place where you can find all of your info for all tracks in Florida, but it has now become a game of hiding information that you don't WANT us to read about. I'm a dedicated enough fan that, if interested, I will search high and low to find what I want to know... but it would be soooo much easier if it were on Karnac. And it WOULD be, if not for this little pissing contest.

What's the harm in someone posting information (on their own) that others would like to see? It isn't derogatory, it isn't insulting, nor is it offending. What's the harm? Apparently Fascar doesn't mind what Andy writes, or THEY would have a talk with him. It seems obvious that since YOU don't like his style (the rest of us do), everything he writes seems to disappear.

Whose side are you on here Jane? Are you in this business because of the love of racing, or is it that you make income off of this sport and don't want anyone else playing in your sandbox?

I know Andy's answer... he doesn't need the money, never once tried to steal your job, never undermined your work, and never intended on becoming MEDIA. He does this for the love of the sport, the drivers in it, and the fans he sits next to. In ALL my years of racing fan-dom, I have never seen someone become so involved, so quickly as Andy has done. He's GOOD for this sport, and we need all the people like him we can get our hands on.

Petty bullshit like this is what runs people off of Karnac and chases them away from racing. Not the fact (or is it just opinion) that he handles things differently than you would?

We need Andy, just as much as we do Jane. You both do a service for the race fans that most people wouldn't (or couldn't) do. You need to figure out that you are on the same team, but you are treating him as an enemy.

If I were him, I'd throw my hands up in frustration, and not bother with this crap anymore. but, I surely hope that Andy has thick enough skin that your criticisms won't chase him away. If he has stories posted on another web-site, I'll go there and read them, but I'd much rather just come here.

Since there are different "rules" (of which I've never seen a rulebook... even when I wrote for Karnac) how about a personal phonecall explaining why things are done the way they are, rather than just windexing everything the guy has to say?

This looks to me like a Brett Favre kind of deal. Since he is no longer a Green Bay Packer, he wants to beat the "old team" and its "new quarterback" more than anyone else in the league. It looks to me as if you are treatinmg it this way.

Jerry gets a standing ovation from me! Well stated sir.

Compare the front pages of this site from other speedweeks time periods, pick any year, and you will see a variety of reports from all the tracks that were running. That is what the readers come here for. This year, the front page is dominated by reports from a single track, which does a great dis-service to all race fans.

Before anyone says "I only put up what they send me", I suggest examining WHY reports aren't being sent, and I'd get to work repairing those relationships ASAP. This is a competitive market, if race fans can't find what they want here they will go elsewhere, so do what you must to keep this site important and useful.

This chicken crap is gonna drive this site into the grave...

I've tried to respond to Dave and Jane's little riddle but I can't get it to go.

As far as I can see, all tracks running during Speed Week (except OSW which will have no coverage unless Andy has time to go there) is well represented on the home page and the results page... The different groups operating shows at Volusia and East Bay are sending out their own press releases which is why you'll see one for the Modifieds and another for the Sprints (All Star, WoO, USAC etc.) and yet another for the Dirt LM's... Everything from Ocala was posted and Citrus TBARA results posted... The navigation of this site is a bit different now and it took me a bit of time to get used to it, but I'm OK with it now... Like I say, don't just use this site for your info... Speed51 and Hoseheads are great!

                  Boneman,

Go to whowon.com or luvracin.com and you won't find one single word from New Smyrna Speedway. I have searched a number of internet websites that do have press releases and nothing is there. I can't post something that does not exsist, I just can't. I have checked newsmyrnaspeedway.org and nothing is there at all and the only place I have found any results from New Smyrna has been there. East Bay and Volusia are the two tracks that are sending out releases and Marty Little for TBARA. Since Larry MacMillan died at Citrus, so far, they have not had a writer and therefore nothing has been really sent out from them. B.J. does a great job for Ocala and I understand that Bill Green will be writing for Hendry County. My suggestion is, you write a story for whatever track you are at and we will post it for everyone. But I can't post something that I don't have.

Now, last time, I am doing the best that I can do. My dad is not doing good, I am trying to hold my mom together, I am driving 91 miles one way to work and then back home again at night, and still finding the time to post all the releases that are sent to us. I wish Andy would send us something but so far I can't find anything nor any place he has sent his story to. If you do, please let me know.

If you want to do this job, just tell me. I will gladly give you the links to do it and how to post the stories and add photos. No problem. That is my answer now. I can't do anymore than what I am given and I also have to answer to Jack who told me to move Andy's story to results since it was a race story for New Smyrna Speedway. I am sorry everyone hates this so much and by the way I feel right now, hates me. I will gladly give you this job any day of the week that you want to do it.

                  Jane

Lets keep things in perspective. No one hates anyone else over this. That would be a silly over-reaction.

This week, I am a little frustrated regarding the flow of information, and because of that I am worried about the long-term viability of this site. It is no secret that I love coming here, and have done so for more than 10 years.

Aside from this aggravation, I am having a great time with all the speedweeks racing, and have been going every night.

If I can generalize regarding gender: guys can argue and fuss with each other, when we decide we are done, then we relax and forget about it. Women have a much harder time with this. I've been married for 22 years; ask me how I know!

As always, my critcisms have been pointed at DECISIONS made, not a reflection of the person who made them. Granted, I've said a lot of things about Don Nerone over the years, but that was strictly because I strongly disagree with the way he conducts business. I never thought Don was a bad guy, I just don't agree with him. I've got tons of personal friends who have made decisions differently than I would have, but we're still friends.

Same here Jane. I don't think anyone "hates" you over this, but some decisions have ruffled some feathers. Don seemed to have the attitude of "this is my way, and if you don't like it, then don't come". The same thing applies to Karnac, RealRacin', or any of the millions of websites out there.

I fail to see the harm in leaving things up if people aren't having a problem with it. As a business owner, I think I would prefer to give my customers what they want, provided that it didn't cost me more in time or money, than the alternative of my customers going away. Face it, the people on here are your customers. No hits, means no advertising, means no cash... which means no more Karnac. NOBODY here wants to see that happen.

Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to please a few dozen people, than it would be to find a couple dozen people to replace them?

I am posting everything I get Rex and pulling what I can pull. I can't do any more than that.

Jerry, I am doing what I was told was the way of things, that simple. And you are right, I know it is only a few who are upset over this and I am sorry but I have to do what I am told to do or else answer to Jack. But for you, I will talk to him.

Sorry, I am not holding anything against anyone but you all have made me feel hated at this point. I know what I do and I know the time it takes me and the time it takes away from other things I could be doing and I do it because I thought it was important to you guys. But maybe I am wrong, at this point, I don't really know.
