  • gentlemen start your draftin dega cars

do not bump -push or touch the car in front of you do not change lanes without first consulting your crew cheif so he can call mike helton for permission then he will call your spotter to tell you what car you can get behind

i think they should have let the drivers get out of there cars at halfway for 30 minute break for milk and cookies - then let the tire changers or fuel man drive for fifty laps -- being as how nascar officals don't want drivers racing any more let helton- france- and some of other officals drive also

take them restrictor plates off of the cars and let them race before some one gets killed seperate the cars take spoiler off rear or make bumpers not match up - if worried about cars turning over put bigger roof flaps on them

i have all ways thought it was called racing do you really think its safer having 25 cars bumper to bumper in a wad no body can pass any body what

would happen if you took restrictor plate off and fixed the cars were they had to get out and race instead of follow the leader that talladega race sucked thank god newman and martin was not hurt

i wonder how brian france and mike helton are going to feel when thirty cars are running three wide and ten of them get up in air and get in stands arethey going to eat that restrictor plates

get the cars apart and let them race or seats are going to be lot emptier than they are now

I agree (my Good Friend - RONNIE)

The first part of that race sucked to the max...the end (malay) is not what we want to see regarding cars upside down and into the wall.

Extremely glad to see those guys get out of the cars by themselves. However, little disturbed that Newman had so much to comment on AFTER his wreck. I think ALL the drivers need to get together and say MUCH MORE before a bad wreck. I am not the only person in the world that thought the worse for Newman - thank God it turned out differently.

SIDE NOTE: That Martin is a class act - a real sports model! He wouldn't say anything about anybody... just "I Don't Know", "I Don't Have Any Idea"..
The man has class (but when he gets his ducks in a row - watch out).

I would support drivers/teams that had the balls to say - "Change things or we aren't driving or we will drive like little ole ladies and leap frog at 82.5 mph for the entire race."

Sponsors need to step up to the plate as well. I know if I was a sponsor... I sure as hell wouldn't want to see "My Car" upside down in the front stretch Grand Stand (between 7 and 11th row).
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

All that the NASCAR fans I work with are talking about today is how dreadful this race was yesterday up until the end. The only plus seems to be that they're getting so disheartened with this kind of racing it's making it easier for me to convince them that they should be heading to the short tracks to see racing as it's meant to be.

They had similar issues in F1 right up to this year, and the teams started their own association to take on the people who own Formula 1. It wasn't perfect, but they had enough weight behind them to put forward a threat of a boycott that would have crippled the sport, and that alone was enough to get a change to the way the World Championship was decided as well as get a load of potential technical changes pushed back that would have hurt them next year. So it can be done, if they're willing to take the risks.

          in

1969 when they tried to start the PDA it didn't work because of one thing, one person, Bill France, Sr. NASCAR has no one that strong, or bull headed running the show anymore. The drivers sell to much stuff now, have many more fans that follow the drivers that NASCAR would have a fight on their hands. NFL, MLB have unions, which sports is next.

How quickly would the changes come if a core group of drivers, especially if they included Jr, Stewart and a few others, spoke out and said that they were heading to Indy Car or - even worse - were starting their own series if they didn't get the changes they wanted.

That would be one heck of a 'who will blink first?' contest!

The problem with this is there are a bunch of quality drivers available to take their places. As someone else mentioned, it was tried in 1969 with Richard Petty leading the boycott but it quickly fizzled when Bill France Sr. got other drivers to compete. Money speaks and NASCAR controls the sport in regards to TV, sponsors, tracks, etc. Probably one of the best things that could happen to the (big league) sport would be a competing series but I can't see it ever happening.

a - Indycar isn't an option. you don't get a ride in Indycar unless you bring your own sponsor, and you only get paid what your sponsor wants to pay you. that's why all the Indycar guys are coming to NASCAR and not the other way around.

b - a drivers series might work. but something like half of all the Cup tracks ( not too mention the only two superspeedways, which are the signature event ) are owned outright by NASCAR and NASCAR could bring some pretty serious leverage on a lot of the remaining tracks....

With my limited knowledge of NASCAR I think the only leverage on the other side of the argument is the popularity of one or two of the drivers if they threatened to go elsewhere, but even that is limited. It's kind of like Tiger Woods threatening to quit the US Tour if he wanted changes - the game would go ahead, but none of the casual viewers/spectators would bother to watch.

But this is more like a baseball or football strike in that all that leverage gets diluted because there are so many teams and drivers who'd happily step over any boycott taking place to get a place in a NASCAR series, regardless of how watered down it was by teams and drivers refusing to take part. The only reason it worked in F1 was because the car manufacturers backed it, and without them there really is no racing. Sadly the structure of NASCAR on the technical side means the car makers have little or no influence.

nascar is the one that has messed up racing with cookie cutter car

drivers are going to do what ever they tell them to do nascar is probably stronger than aflcio or mafio what has to be done is for fans to just quit going

just go to your local track if you want to see some action weather it is asphalt or dirt but go to your local tracks take any short track you will get plenty of action if you are going to watch nascar go park on top of an over pass on interstate and just watch cars go by on 1-4 from tampa to daytona and you can see plenty wrecks also

if you see us or one of our tow trucks stop and visit we might let you get up close for some real action but don't get ran over just kidding cops won't let you stop so just blow your horn and wave see yaa nascrap stinks
