Todd , you gotta quit getting your " facts " from Rush .
George , do you have a dollar figure on how much the Cap and Trade is going to cost your company ? I did some reserch for my company and didn't see that it would cost us very much if anything at all . But we may have overlooked something in our figures .
I can't wait for the re-distribution of wealth to kick in . Reversing the Bush money grab for the rich , and giving it back to the middle class is a great idea . Lower taxes for the rich will mean more productivity and more jobs ? Only Ronald Raygun could have dreamed up a scheme like that . Lower taxes for the rich just means one more vacation house or a new Mercedes for the wife .

Our paid for bean counter said that since we have locations in 5 countries plus Canada it will be someplace in the area of $250K to $650K. Biggest hit will be on the raw material shipping to the Far East and Australia. Our business s does not fit under a lot of the no effect area at all. The other killer will be Carbon Tax which will catch everyone.
The BIG PROBLEM is that people think the RICH will just Not buy the vacation house or Not buy the Mercedes that is the problem with not understanding it. We WILL BUY the Vacation House and WILL BUY The Mercedes, sorry I prefer a Rolls and will just make the company smaller and leaner to make the SAME PROFIT we do now. When we HAVE extra money we PAY bigger salaries and SPEND on improvements to our company by getting things replaced BEFORE they are worn out but when we have to tighten our belts we just FIX what we have till things get better.
This is my last comment about politics since it is a never ending thing that just makes things worse instead of better.
PS Ask the NASCAR teams about the LOSS of the EXTRA MONEY that they got to run their teams. We will no longer sponsor some cars on open wheel circuits if we have to cut back.

I only wish the extra money always went to bigger salaries for the employees . Too many times , the lower taxes are simply put into the trust fund instead of actually being spent , and thereby helping the economy . I do know of several very wealthy company CEOs who use the tax savings to increase salaries ( for the lowest paid employees , not the managers ) , or benefits , or infrastructure , or repairs , or expanding . But many times they just put it in their pocket . And that doesn't do a thing to improve the economy , many of them keep their money overseas .

That does not work anymore with the bad US Dollar. You do not make as much as we did in the 1960's doing that. Just a waste of time and not very good if you need to use any of it.

george, I will say I am sorry about the crybaby comment and sorry for that alone. All else I stand by. I am Dem at the polls but I to also vote either way on who I think is right. My point is this. Bush ran us in the ground. Many things started to go bad and his response to everything was, BLAME THE RAG HEADS!!!!And send more troops. He spent 95% of his time and thought on Iraq when the country was falling apart and he didn't care. Many of the money give aways was started by him. Obama is doing what he thinks is right. I don't like every choice he makes but at least he is trying to fix it.

my POINT is that we've known since the 1970's that Social Security and Medicare payments were going to bankrupt this country. what's the solution? expand benefits, increase payments, wheeeeeeeeeee!

trying to assert that it was Bush that "started this" is pure BS. and you know it. his domestic spending may have sped it up a little bit, but it didn't get us anywhere we that we didn't already know we were going.

and no, i wasn't in favor of any of that.

That Bush and the Republicans weren't smart enough to come up with their own ideas ?

that the "compassionate" in Bush's "Compassionate Conservatism" is pure socialist wealth redistribution that any democrat would be proud to call their own, yes.

who wrote Bush's education bill? Ted Kennedy.

who wrote the campaign finance reform bill? McCain ( liberal Republican ) and Finegold ( liberal Democrat )

who wrote the Medicare drug benefit expansion? i actually don't know.

when Bush was in office, even when Repubs had both houses, all we heard about was how we had to have "bipartisanship". and he gave it to you.

where tf is your bipartisanship talk now? the only reason they try to get the Republicans on board for any of this crap now is so they can try and blame it on them when it blows up. they don't bother talking to Republicans to write the bills and they're looking at changing centuries old Senate rules so they can force this through even though they can't get enough Democrats to vote for it.

but that's okay, you go ahead and keep blaming conservatives.

BLAME THE RAG HEADS!!!!And send more troops.

                      just like ... Obama?

you might want to check O's current and projected troop staffing for Afghanistan and Iraq before you mouth off too much about spending money on those two wars.

Thanks Todd. My point exactly. Blame all the Dems for all the worlds problems. If you read what I am saying you would see. You can not say Bush was a jerk off. You know he was but yet you will never admit it. Instead you blame the Dems for what Bush did. LMAO I bet you have Rush on every minute he talks. And yes we are sending troops now to. But unlike Bush it isn't his ONLY objective for this country. If I was you I would be so proud of Bush to. Yep, he spent all that money to avenge the tower bombings. When will Osama Bin Laden go on trail? Oh crap thats right he never caught him did he. Now he has had 8 years to restructure. He was afraid to catch him. Might have told some more dirty little secrets about what his dad was involved in while being VP. And really Todd. I will pop my mouth off when I want. I really could give a crap less what you think!!!!!!

Damn , we're pretty far afield from a racing board .

Social Security and Medicare are not going to bankrupt this country . That has never been an issue . The only issue is how to keep politicians from stealing the money from those two and using it for other puposes . Thats been going on for decades .

The financial mess this country is currently in is mostly because of very poor decisions by Bush . When Bush became President there was a huge financial surplus in this country . Within the first year of Bushs' Presidency , it was pretty much all gone . And not because of the war , that was funded seperatley . Call it anything you want , but thems the facts . Another reason for the current mess is the convoluted financial policies of Alan Greenspan .

All of those bills you mention were written by a large group of people , not just one , in spite of what Hannity thinks . Every bill goes through many re-writes and mark-ups before its even put on the floor for a vote . No one person , no one party is ever responsible for a bill .

Bi-partisonship in Washington has been non-existent for decades . Its a myth . Occaisionally an idea comes along that most everyone gets behind , but those are rare . With a two party system , and without term limits , there is no incentive for bi-partisonship , in fact there is every reason to avoid working with the opposing side . If you plan to get re-elected you can't show any weakness , you can't sway even slightly from the party line . Congressmen who refuse to work with the other side are seen as heros to the party base . That gets them re-elected , but sure as hell doesn't allow much to get done .

The Democrats aren't planning on changing any centuries old rules . Its called reconcilliation , its been used as long as this country has existed . It isn't used often , but has been used many times over the preceeding decades by administrations of both partys .

Very few of your comments have a factual basis...aside from the opening line.

Most of which could be debated and proven wrong, factually.

It would be fruitless to attempt it.

Actually, the facts are pretty accurate. Social Security was designed to be self funding, but money has been taken from the fund to boost the General fund and used for purposes it wasn't intended. Some of AJ's post is his opinion but most of the facts are accurate.
