I've noticed that the fascar websites are still not up to date. Mark do you have to much on your plate? The website looks good but people want to wake up on Sat or Sun morning and view the results right away. There are still no driver rooster or pics of the drivers like last year. The year is almost over and I believe that maybe you should pass the torch on to someone else. You need someone to like Jane or Dave to keep it up to date. I always thought that Dave did a great job last year with the stories, pics of drivers, pics of cars and results. The site definitely needs a douching. Thanks Bob

Smells fresh and clean, like a Summer's Eve...
I would just like to say I applaud your use of the term "douching" in your post. It's not every day you see that.www.FloridaSprintCarFans.com - because Florida sprint car racing needs all the help it can get...

FYI... up until our recent time-off from OSW... Jane HAS been doing that site... and aside from this past week... I upload the results to NSS before I leave the track on Saturday night... This week I waited until Sunday morning... my apologies for that...
As to your other concerns... The vast MAJORITY of my time on the new sites has been spent fixing someone else's mistakes... the site's were not designed (programmed) properly from the start...
Driver's Rosters are not that easy... if I recall... last year's Roster on the sites was no where near accurate... I know this because I used to use that as a guideline for the Programs... There were names on there that hadn't raced in over a year... Dave's stories, when I get them, can be found in the Race Reports/News section, and on the Front Page, but as I stated earlier... after being accused of 'locking' Jane out of the Website... she has had total control over Orlando's site and what it contains, and how it appears.
As many others have mentioned on this board previously... If you have a problem, why not contact someone directly... or do you just like to hear yourself talk... or in this case... see your words written???
Now if I'm not mistaken, even if you are bashing FASCAR or one of its Employees, shouldn't this thread appear in the Complainer's Corner?Mark Keeler

Are you a computer programmer? If so I would not think it would take all year to fix the screw ups of other people. Matter of fact it should not take over a week…. Maybe you are doing something that you should not be doing???Originally posted by Voice of NSS View PostAs to your other concerns... To answer your question... NO... I am NOT a computer programmer... the person that screwed the website up in the first place is a 'Programmer'... at least that is their title...
As to your comment about it taking a week to fix someone else's mistakes... first you have to find the mistake... then figure out the appropriate fix that will have the least damaging effect on the rest of the site... then fix it... I doubt from your response that you have ever worked on a Dynamic PHP Website... when you do... then talk to me about how long it should take to correct not one... but three websites... and consider that the first three weeks of corrections that were made were thrown out by someone trying to fix something that they shouldn't have... and back to square one we go!
If you had sent me an email... or a PM.. or just plain asked a question... perhaps it would not have come across as bashing! Oh yeah... the term 'douching' didn't help either.
Or if you'd like... we can go back the site the way it was before I started working on it... with NO results... NO points... and no way to even add or update them... and meaningless banner ads that pertained to absolutely nothing of any interest to anyone!Mark Keeler

I had nothing to do with the change in Websites... that was done... they were not done right... and I stepped up to try and fix them...
I'm still not sure what is "not updated" on them other than a Drivers Roster and Driver Pics... and BTW, since I started doing the sites, I have received ZERO pics from Dave Westerman to add to the site. (he is the one that used to take the Driver pics)...
It is amazing to me though... I have solicited MANY people at the tracks for their opinions on the websites and what we can do to make them better... some of the ideas are good... some are not feesible... and others are in the works... I guess it all depends on the approach...
BACKDOOR... as I said earlier... a question or simple post explaining your concern or thoughts could have quite possibly carried a little weight... but the manner in which you have decided to present your case leaves much to be desired...
EVERY Driver on this board preaches about respecting them and how track employees attitudes towards the Drivers need to better... well what about the Track Employees... the ones that work countless hours per week to HELP... where is the respect for them?
Remember, the manner in which you ask a question is often as, if not more important, than the question itself!
Are the sites perfect...? NO... But is there a LOT of work being done behind the scenes to make them better... YES!Mark Keeler

All I wanted was to be able to look at my favorite drivers and read their stories. And all I get is a bashing from you. I made a suggestion about the website. What my suggestions are not admired for your website?
I think you are wrong the website. It is the one that needs to be desired along with supporting the drivers. If you cant fix it leave it alone and let Dave do it the old way!!

I have not taken pix for the website this year because I was told that belongs now solely to Jim Jones who the last time I talked to was frustrated because it was such a pain in the neck to upload pictures on the site...
I took care of the old site (set up by Jack Smith) simply because I wanted to create the best photo gallery of any track on the web... I never made a dime off of it and never sold any pictures which is why Jim Jones got a bit upset which is understandable since that's how he and Brooke make their living... I told them any photo I took could be considered their property... Anyhoo... The camera I was using was borrowed from AB195 and I gave it back to him before his Indiana trip... I don't own a camera right now nor can I afford to buy one....

Joe Lewandoski has taken over the role of Marketing Director at the speedway. If you guys have suggestions or complaints about the web sites or other concerns I suggest you contact him directly at New Smyrna Speedway or at his number 386-547-6030.
Jane Smth and Dave Westerman did an excellent job of maintaining the Orlando site in particular for a number of years. It was a far cry from what existed early in the decade. Thanks to the initial push from Sandy Nerone and the continued energy of Terry Roberts the FASCAR sites were taken to a new level and became a useful tool for fans and drivers alike. FASCAR tracks and series went from no mailing list to upwards of 8,000 names.
No one can fault Jane Smith in any way for the work she did, which she did for the tracks often without compensation.
Running the FASCAR sites and keeping them up to date and dynamic is a bigger undertaking than most realize, which we are certain Mark understands quite well.
By letting the Marketing Director know about your concerns you will communicating to the person who can ensure that Mark has the resources and personnel to handle the sites at their optimum.

For about the last two months or so, I have updated the results, points, and latest news on the Orlando site. Mark was doing it all but it was hard trying to keep up and fix what needed to be fixed so I tried to help. I admit that sometimes my help was wrong since this site is alot different than the site I did for 4 years but I tried. But the results were up right after the races and points were up that night also if not early the next morning. I tried to keep the drivers informed and fans on what was happening that weekend, what time the pit opened, cost, etc.
I guess I screwed up since I can no longer get into the new site to update it but I am sure Mark will get it updated as fast as he can. I do send him the results right away so when he gets home from Orlando, they are there but I understand where it is hard sometimes if it is really late to do it. But I have always posted the Orlando results and New Smyrna results that night at the race results site on karnac, old habit of mine because I know from experience how many out-of-town relatives look for those results right after the races. I do this for all the tracks that send me the results right after their races and sometimes they are up on karnac before their own web-sites. Just depends but they are there. A good web-site and track send out their results asap where they need them posted and if they can take the time to send them to me, I can take the time to put them up for them as soon as possible. I also do that for Southern Short Track as well.
The driver roosters on the old site came from the licenses we had each year. I would send the list to Jack and he would put those up for me since that was one board I did not control. We had hoped to add bios to them but never got the chance. But I am sure that Mark will get that done as soon as he can.
Mark knows that I will help when he needs it. I don't mind and like I said, I have screwed up sometimes because that board is alot different than the old web-site boards. But I did try.

FASCAR Goes Hoosier
"I regret leaving Goodyear after 18 years, but this is the best move for FASCAR, Hoosier and the racers."
Note-in that order, FASCAR,Hoosier, the Racers. (no caps) You see where the racers stand.......same old BS.
BTW who the F is "I" in this statement, Weak POS... no one takes the "credit' for this statement or the big announcement.

Jane, I used to love it when you handled all of the results. I would get home from the track some nights around 1 or 2 and you would have already posted the results. I know you have your hands full now.
Now that I cant make it to the tracks like I have in the previous years I still try to follow everyone but its difficult when the results dont get posted sometimes for days.
On another note SOMEONE NEEDS to take over the SSS site and start updating results and points. This is an elite series and needs to be treated accordingly.
One more thing, Where is John Tenney? He seems computer savy.
