Kevin Goodale was one of the northern drivers to make the trip down south to the season opener at Caraway for the Whelen Southern Modified division.
Goodale is from Riverhead NY and will compete in the northern tour again this year.
He feels he will have a chance at the championship with the depature of defending champion Donny Lia.
Goodale has different thoughts on the championship though.
"We just want to win a race period. Thats all. If we can win a race then all else will fall in place" says the upbeat northerner.
Goodale was tuning up his racer for the upcoming season opener in a few weeks for the Whelen Modified North division.
Goodale was surprised that he qualified third for the race since he had never competed here.
"With all the cars that were here we were surprised to do this good. Heck we didnt know if we would make the race or not" he said.
Goodale did go on to say that Caraway reminded him of Lincoln Speedway in New Hampshire where he ran decent.
Goodale would go on to finish 14th in the Whelen Southern Modified 150.
Goodale was also impressed with Caraway and the southern hospitality.
