Anybody got a little extra cash laying around
to invest into some racing history?
A friend of mine is heading down to the final day
today of the Barrett – Jackson Auction in Palm Beach
as a paid consultant for a buyer on a particular racer
that’s on the block for sale today so I logged onto their
site this morning to check it out.
Low and behold I see another jewel that’s for sale
today that really got my attention (not the same car
my friend is advising on).
On the block today is Joe Fontana’s original
1939 Chevrolet “Flying Eagle #1” driven by New
England Auto Racing Hall of Famer Richard “Moon” Burgess.
You can see the listing details and a couple of great
shots of the car HERE.
(Check out those three Strombergs!)
Burgess passed away just this past month on
St. Patrick’s Day at the age of 81 after suffering
a stroke earlier in the month.
You can check out some of “Moon’s” history and
background with the car HERE & HERE.
Wouldn’t it be great if one of the DAARA boys picked
this famous racer up and we all had the privilege of
possibly seeing it again at one of the reunions or
at DAARA event?
