  • V8 Stockcar Series Mid Year Review

At the mid year point in the 2009 season, with races complete at PBIR, Sebring, Roebling Road and VIR the three champs from 2008 are once again at the top of the heap. Dave Machavern leads V8 GT-1 with 144 points with double win weekends at PBIR, Sebring and VIR. Bill Smith did get the best of Machavern at Roebling taking home two wins there. Charles Wicht is sure to figure in the points chase and challenge for wins with his winged Monte Carlo recently refurbished and ready for battle. In V8 SPO, Lee Arnold leads Paul Breehne 144 to 112, but they have already had some great shootouts.
Tony Amico, who just edged out Tom " Hollywood" Graham last year, leads newcomer Randy Walker 94 to 85, with Ron Keith, Jay Marshall,Randy Keith and Graham still in the hunt.

In the new for 2009 V8 GT2 class we have a three way tie with Doug Wilson (BMW M3), Bob Mayer (C6 Vette) and Steve Epley (C6 Z06 Vette) all totalling 48 points. Not far back is Paul Gordon and Ed Lewis with 40 points. Gordon wheels his KONI Challenge Mustange and Fast Eddie is in his black and beautiful Z06 Corvette.

New for 2009 in V8 StockCar is our own radio show, broadcast live at Racetalkradio.com. Hosted by Dennis Michealson, with V8 StockCar drivers, sponsors and supporters as guests. The show debuted in April and has had Lee Arnold, Tony Amico, Dave Machavern, Tommy Riggins, Billy Hess, and others interviewed on air.

Race Talk Radio also broadcast the VIR race live with well known racing radio personality Doc Love doing the on air color.

The V8 racers' will return to action at Road Atlanta for the Howe Twins July 18 and 19. All of the point leaders and close challengers are expected to be there to test North America's toughest circuit.
