    With maybe the exception of some of the IMCA events held at Plant Field in Tampa... This was probably the greatest field of Sprint Car drivers ever assembled during February in Florida...
    These are the time trial results from the opening show at East Bay in February, 1980.. a virtual who's who of the day - 29 years ago!!

    1) Doug Wolfgang (Speedway Motors 4X) Set the track record at 15.923 which was broken the following night by Larry Gates at 15.645...

    102 cars - all pitted in the infield back then!!! I was there and it was quite a show... Doug Wofgang won the opener, Sammy Swindell took the next two prelims and Wolfgang won the finale...
