Ken Schrader announced plans to auction off his Arca race cars & equipment as well as some memorabilia and race win trophys later this month as he is closing his North Carolina race shop that housed his ARCA operations.He will continue his dirt racing campaign in his home state shop in Missouri.As Schrader phrased it he was simply eliminating the part of his operation where he wasn't the driver....Nascar continues its efforts to have its teams relocate the car number against the rear wheel opening instead of center of the door to allow for greater sponsor visibility on the center section of the race vehicles.Which brought a question to my mind.Who is the first guy locally you remember placing their number BEHIND the rear wheel? The guy I remember in central Ohio who did it first was Don Gregory in 1972 when he unveiled his purple and white Jegs sponsored 1968 Camaro.
