Mansfield Speedway in Ohio has been lost to progress(?)
The half mile facility located just an hour north of Columbus started being dismantled yesterday. It was a super nice facility that held ARCA and NASCAR Truck Series races only a decade ago after the track had been reconfigured to a half mile paved from what had originated as a third mile dirt in 1959 before being stretched to a undersized half mile.It hosted a Lucas Oil Late Model Series race in 2017 that paid over $200,000 to win and drew in excess of 100 cars after it reverted to dirt. With Sandusky Speedway up for sale earlier this year (and the last I heard unsold) it's possible Ohio could lose two half mile tracks by winter.
