Twenty one late models signed in last night at Citrus County Speedway for the 2020 season opener and Eric Willis in his #5 set fast time. The first half of the race was a pretty clean affair with Anthony Sergi,Nick Neri Michael Atwell,Wayne Anderson,Jessie Dutilly and Jarred Irvin and Jon Guy all hanging out towards the front.Sergi and Neri swapped the lead with a lot of good cars such as Daniel Keene and Chris Fontaine buried deep in the field.Patience wore off after the halfway point and attrition started taking its toll.A caution around lap 55 eliminated the frontrunning Neri who lost his cool after the previous restart and dumped Atwell under caution on the backstretch.Atwell lost his cool after getting turned around and likewise was black flagged. With the first and second place cars now gone (with most of the rest of the lead group)Sergi cruised to victory followed distantly by Dutilly,Anthony Cataldi,Alexa Anderson,Kendall Anderson, Brandon Anderson and Keith Zavrel. All on the lead lap and the only finishers.I have to give a shout out to the three Andersons who stayed on the lead lap, kept out of trouble for the most part, with two of them posting top 5s in equipment that's far from the top.Larry Welter Jr.won the Pure Stock main ahead of James Peters in a 20 car field.AJ Waller took the Outlaw Street Stock win in a field of seven and Thomas Peete took the mini feature in a field of 14 starters.
