AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY CELEBRATES MOTHER"S DAY WITH SUPER LATE MODELS & MORE SATURDAY NIGHT
After suffering the first rain-out of 2018 last week, it's "Salute to Mom’s Night" at Auburndale Speedway this Saturday night presented by Max Pay Pawn and there is plenty of racing on tap including the Max Pay Pawn Salute to Mom 125 for the Super Late Models, race number three of the Auburndale Super-8 Series. Also racing will be the Legend Cars, Q Mini Stocks, Street Stocks and Scramblers. Also, making their second appearance of the season, will be the classic racers from the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association (DAARA)
Joe Boyd of Riverview won the first round of the Super-8 Series back in March then it was Winter Haven's George Gorham, Jr. taking home the win in last month's wild & wooly affair that saw only seven cars of the 15-car field finish with nearly all of the seven still running having plenty of "battle scars." Both Boyd and Gorham are expected to enter and try for a second victory.
Despite a rough outing last month that saw an eighth place finish, Brandon "Bones" Duchscherer leads the Super 8 Series point standings by two markers over Boyd and Brian Dorer who are tied for second. Chris Fontaine is just four points out of the lead in fourth spot while "The Polk City Flash," Josh Todd and David King are tied for fifth, ten points behind Duchscherer.
Jim Smith has a whopping 76 point lead in the Legend Car point standings over young lady rookie driver Jade Hubert while Steven O'Steen is up by 11 markers over Ross Francisco in the Street Stock standings. Chris Narramore, Sr. has a slim 12 point advantage over his son Chris, Jr. in the Q Mini Stocks and in the Scrambler points it's rookie Travis Todd, a feature winner two weeks ago, leading Danny Burchfield by just three points.
Pit gates open at 1:30 pm with Super Late Model practice slated from 4-5 pm. Other divisions will practice from 5-6 pm. Grandstand
gates open at 5 pm and qualifying for the Super Late Models is slated for 6:15 pm. Racing begins at 7 pm with 8-lap heat races for DAARA cars, Q Mini Stocks, Legend Cars, Street Stocks and Scramblers. Intermission will feature an autograph session on the front stretch with the Super Late Model drivers just before they go racing in the Max Pay Pawn Salute to Mom 125 that will be the first feature of the evening. Up next will be feature racing for the DAARA machines followed by 25-lap contests for the Q Mini Stocks, Legend Cars and Street Stocks. The Scramblers will wrap up the evening of action with a 20-lap run.
Adult admission this full evening of great racing is just $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are only $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.
