While I had mentioned on here last week about the imminent auction of Lake County (Ohio) Speedway set for April 21st,Kil Kare Raceway in Xenia Ohio has reopened it's gates after abruptly closing following the 2014 season.The father of C.R.A. competitor Brandon Oakley has breathed new life into the nearly 70 year old facility with plans for a limited schedule in 2017 which includes two C.R.A. events.The reopening launched the second Saturday of April with a moderate car count ( but still more than they drew before the closing) and a new race day.The facility had ran its previous seasons on Friday night and have now switched to Sunday afternoon racing.The last two years the 1/3 mile D shaped oval has been the playground of the Corvette Club of Troy Ohio.The reopening breathes a fresh bit of hope to asphalt racing in central Ohio as the closing of 71 year old Columbus Motor Speedway following the 2016 season was set to leave the Columbus, Cincinnati, and metro Dayton Ohio area without a paved racetrack for the first time in 70 years.Good luck to Mr.Oakley moving forward.
