The Racing:
> It rained 15 laps into the Sportsman Feature. Junior Becker was in front when the race was stopped for rain with a considerable lead.
>Beckner was fast, and in front. There are many ways to win races. Junior Beckner earned this one. There are reasons that car is fast every week, and those reasons involve time and money. Every week. He deserved the win.
>For the kids following along at home, Patrick Thomas was on the move, and worked his way up to fourth when the red flew.
New Smyrna Speedway Takes The High Road:
>Everyone gets free passes that had an wristband (I assume this includes crewman, ie Me, as well). Therefore, the show was for "free"--for us.
>For New Smyrna it was a loss. Light bill, employees, etc.
>In addition, instead of everyone going home empty handed, NSS also made the decision to pay the Drivers for a "regular" show, AND pay Junior Beckner an appropriate bonus out of the goodness of their hearts.
>Thank you, New Smyrna Speedway.
The Story:
>Scott Garrity (aka the "Sudsman" {laundry or something, I dunno...}) was there with his beautiful "07" car and friendly crew and they brought their genuinely good atmosphere to add to the already good times at NSS. Scott indicates he will be running at New Smyrna more often, and we will be looking forward to that.
The Wrapup:
Feel bad for those in classes that did not get to race at all, many nonetheless tried to help dry the track before the race was "called". Thanks, guys.
IMO, although some may disagree, a rainy night at the racetrack is still better than a rainy day fishin'!
