ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD OVAL TRACK BACK IN ACTION THIS WEEK
After some time off during the rainy summer months, Orlando SpeedWorld's oval
track returns to action this Friday night with the events being run and
sponsored by Clean Cut Tree Service of Melbourne.
Three 50-lap feature races are on tap in three divisions - Super Stock, Six &
Eight Cylinder Strictly Stock and Four Cylinder Strictly Stock.
Clean Cut Tree Service & Stump Grinding, Inc. is a local and family owned tree
service which offers a wide variety of tree services including trimming,
pruning, shaping and hazardous tree removal. They also offer stump grinding
and stump removal. Clean Cut offers both free estimates and free advice to
customers too. This is owner Robert Skinner's first attempt at race promotion
but he has raced at SpeedWorld before and believes he can help get the stock
car racing program back "on track" if "we can get the support from our fellow
racers and start having fun again."
Each race will pay $300 to the winner with the top five positions being paid.
Skinner notes that the payoffs aren't the best but that he "has to start
somewhere" and just wants to begin getting the oval track action back up and
running again. "I just hope the racers will see what we are trying to do, be
supportive and not worry about payouts etc.," says Skinner. "(Track Manager)
Donnie and the owners of the track are being very supportive as well and what
we need to do is show them the oval racers are willing to come and race and
just have fun," he said.
Pit gates will open Friday at 4 pm with grandstand gates slated to open at 7
pm. Racing begins at 8 pm. Adult admission is $12 for the grandstand while
pit passes are $30.
Skinner notes that practice before racing will be open to any race team
regardless of class if they want to check out their car or get their driver
some "seat time."
