  • New Smyrna Speedway Race Preview for 8/9/14

IT'S "TACKY TOURIST NIGHT THIS SATURDAY AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

This Saturday it's "Tacky Tourist Night" at New Smyrna Speedway. Come dressed
as a "tacky tourist" and get in for just $10. The track will be having a hula
hoop contest for all ages and a best dressed tacky tourist contest at
    intermission.
As far as NASCAR Whelan All-American Series racing goes, five classes will see
action including the Pro Late Models, Sportsman, E-Modifieds, Super Stocks and
    Strictly Stocks.
Young Australian driver Will Carroll won his second Pro Late Model feature of
the year last week but leads Ricky Anderson in the point standings by just
five markers. Jarrett Korpi continues to build on his point lead following
his eighth win of the year last week in the E-Modifieds but his competition is
getting much keener and that led to some close racing last week along with a
    few "hard feelings."
Donny Williams is on top of the Sportsman standings while Shannon Kelly is
leading in the Super Stocks looking for his second straight championship. The
Strictly Stocks have been earning points for a few weeks now and Jimmy
"Spaceman" Barron currently leads the way.
Also this Saturday, New Smyrna Speedway's concession stand will be introducing
the "Speedway Challenge." The "Speedway Challenge" will consist of the
following: a burger, two chicken tenders, bbq pork, onion rings, a
cheeseburger and a hot dog all piled high on a pretzel bun with a side of
fries. The cost for the challenge will be $15 for all those hungry fans that
are wanting to step forward and see if they can tackle this beast of a
sandwich. You will have seven minutes to finish the "Speedway Challenge."
Winners will get two tickets to the Florida Governor's Cup Super Late Model
race in November, a $60 value, and their picture on the Wall of Fame. For
those that are interested, please be sure to let one of our people at the
concession stand know and they will get you set up for the challenge of a
    lifetime, food-wise that is...
Pit gates open at 4 pm with division practice scheduled from 5-6:45 pm.
Grandstand gates open at 6 pm with racing at 7:30 pm starting with eight-lap
heat races for the E-Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stocks and Strictly Stocks.
Following intermission, 25-lap features are slated for the E-Modifieds,
Sportsman, Pro Late Models and Super Stocks with a 20-lap event for the
Strictly Stocks closing out the night of racing.
Adult admission is $15 with all seniors (65+) and active military personnel
with ID admitted for $13. Of course, come dressed as a "tacky tourist" and get
in for just ten bucks! All kids 11 and under are free whether they are a
    tacky tourist or not!
