Rocketman has landed in Gibsonton Fl.
Richie Stephens from Salem Al. brought his rocketship to East Bay Raceway Park for the 3rd Annual Street Stock World Championship and everyone else just sort of melted in the flames from the back of his race car.
Richie Stephens was put to the back of the pack twice and still managed to work his way to the point with 20 laps still remaining in the race. After that it was just a matter of staying out of the yellow flag slow downs caused by accidents. The yellows actually cleared the track for Stephens to run a race he wanted to run, it did not make any difference where Stephens put the car it went fast.
Stephens admitted that he was actually faster when slowed down toward the end of the race to save the tires and a borrowed engine from a fellow competitor. What ever the case Richie Stephens lived up to his nick name as he was like a rocket for this big win. Enjoy.
