    Southern States Sprints Series
    CHAMPION

In a season long points battle of back and forth with Sheldon Kinser Jr. The Triple X SSLS Crowns Darrin Davis CHAMPION. Going into last night contest Davis started the night show with a 27 point advantage going into qualifing which afterwards was trimed to 22 points when that session was over. Heat race time it was Kinser Jr. that was on a mission racing everyone hard to get to the front doing what he needed to do and that was win and with Davis having troubles and falling out Kinser took another leap to trim the lead, now to 14. Feature time Kinser had to win and Davis needed to finish out of the top 5.
On the onslot Kinser Jr. jumps to a quick lead by vuture of the redraw that put him on the outside pole. Seems lady luck was shining on the Stewart/Disaster Motorsports team tonight. But on this night Darrin Davis in the Xpress Graphixx/Outlaw Race Parts/KRP/Kari Ann Special was not to be denied. In just an epic battle as we have grown to love and expect here at the Bullring this one was no different. Davis got by the 13 of the "Flying Irishman" Rob Feeney on lap 3 then diamond the corner in 3-4 to drive under the nights fastest qualifier and heat winner Stephen Crabtree and was right on Kinser Jr.'s six. Lap 6 Davis high Kinser low, lap 7 side by side, Crabtree sticks the noise in under the both of them. Lap 8 Davis makes the pass off 4 Kinser retakes the lead in 1 down the back stretch Davis/Kinser/Crabtree/Feeney then off 4 Crabtree/Kinser/Davis at the line for lap 9 Kinser/Davis/Crabtree. 3-4 again Davis under Kinser, Kinser hard and deep into 1 retaking the lead and Crabtree spins. Restart lap 10 Kinser Jr. fires Follower Davis/Feeney/Scott "HOLLYWOOD" Krueger/John "JT" Crowder and Robert Bozeman all under a blanket. Damn what one hell'va show. Davis back under SKJ but Kinser has the run off the cushion and wheelies back to the front but on lap 13 Davis is not to be denied throttle down elbows up drives it way way deep into the cushion in turn 1, rooster tails trailing the rear tires Davis makes the clean pass on his rival. Kinser surprized by the bold move bobbles off 2 and allows Freeny to drive underneath. Lap 18 Feeney and Kinser get together causing the #13 to spin and go to the rear. Crabtree watching the 92 as he can fire anytime as he enters 3 times it just right passing Crowder and Kreuger to get back to 3rd. Lap 25 another caustion with 5 to go Davis/KinserJr./Crabtree/Krueger/Feeney which is how the finished the 30 lap end of points season champion.
In the end it was Davis winning the battle and the war by just 17 points. In victory lane the 1st one to greet Davis was rival fellow racer and friend Sheldon Kinser Jr. saying "man what a HARD FOUGHT RACE and points battles all season. We raced each other so damn hard tonight in the A and never touched. Darrin is such a good racer at racing you clean but will never give ya an inch". Davis like wise, "Sheldon is just a hard nose Indiana Bullring style of racer. Always hard but we respect each other and trust is the key word. You have to trust each other out there when you make a bonzi more like I did. What a great little race track for these cars and the racers, Sheldon/John/Rob/ my teammate Scott, Robert and others that was not able to make it sure missed out on a great race track tonight I just want to say thanks guy's it has been so much fun this year and hope I can represent all the driver here and the Southern States Sprints Series along with the Bullring as THEIR Champion."
"Want to say thank you so much to my Dad, Wayne Davis, 1 for helping me race without him I could not do it and for this series the non wing stuff is all about the driver and the set up. I'm a big guy and it helps me be more competitive without the wing compare to the wing stuff where it's more about the holding your right foot down and never letting off which in turn = more $$."
The points season is over but we still have 3 more races at the Bullring. Nov. 18/19 and Dec.10 which will be a Sat. Afternoon race. Hope to see ya all Friday Night Nov. 18 as we where going to run the wings but the general consensus is non wing so it will be 3 not wing shows to finish the season. See-ya Friday
