Dennis Wayne Boyd
BOYD, DENNIS WAYNE, 56, of Orlando, went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2008. Dennis Boyd was a legend in the local and national stock car racing community. Boyd spent his working life operating an engine building shop on Orange Blossom Trail. His number one driver was his son, Jason, who has had tryouts with NASCAR teams such as Roush Racing. He built the engines for NASCAR star Joe Nemechek when he won the NASCAR Busch series in 1992. In recent years, he concentrated on local super late model stock car engines for local stars such as the late Pete Orr, Leroy Porter, David Russell, Mike Firtz and Briar Racing. He also worked on the engines of young upstarts such as Matt Martin and Spencer Taylor. Dennis was an incredible engine builder who loved to fish and treasured every moment he spent with his sons, Jason, Jordan and Jamison Boyd. Dennis is survived by his sons, Jason, Jordan and Jamison; his granddaughter, Morgan Boyd; his mother, Veronica Boyd; his sister, Charlene Fitzgerald (Paul); his brother, Tim Boyd (Tammy). Dennis is joining his father Henry Boyd. Dennis Boyd's Service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church, 1900 Conway Gardens Rd., Orlando 32806, (407) 898-1401. There will be a wake service at the church on Wednesday from 6-8PM and the funeral service will be on Thursday at 10 AM with Dr. Shane Stutzman as the officiating clergy.
