Former Stafford Modified Champion George Janoski Passes At 79: George M. Janoski, 79, of Janoski Rd., Ashford, beloved husband of the late Janie (Friese) Janoski, passed away on Saturday, (January 12, 2008). He was born in Stafford Springs, son of the late Michael and Frances (Trudzinski) Janoski. George was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and retired as a maintenance worker from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. He was a longtime dirt track racing competitor and former modified champion at the Stafford Motor Speedway during the fairground era, and also in the southern circuit. George was inducted as a hall of fame member of the New York State Stock Car Association.
