MOTHER NATURE FORCES DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND FOR AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY

As he came in the track office with rain pouring outside last Saturday evening, Auburndale Speedway owner Rex Guy stated "We've got to get these guys a chance to race again... so we are going to race next Sunday too." Therefore a unique doubleheader weekend will be on tap for this Saturday and Sunday at The 'Dale.

Saturday's schedule will feature a two-segment "King of the Blacktop" 75 lap Sunshine State Challenge Series (SSCS) race for the Modifieds. The teams will run for 40 laps, take a brief break, then return for the final 35-lap segment. L. B. Skaggs currently leads the SSCS Modified point standings by eight points over Eric Rudd. Also on tap will be racing for the Legend Cars, Q Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini Cup cars. The Figure-8 cars will also be in action as well.

The Sunday show will be a make-up of the entire September 30th racing program and it will be Harvest Meat Markets Faith & Family Day. Any church members who bring a church bulletin, ID or shirt will receive $5 off the regular adult admission. Also, teen groups and their leaders will be admitted free just by contacting track Marketing Manager Rick Bristol (407-497-0448).

It will also be Big Brother and Big Sister Day as well as they will be conducting the 50/50 raffle to help raise money for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Polk County.

Sunday, the Sunshine State Challenge Series (SSCS) Street-Stocks will compete for 50 laps while the V-8 Bombers will duke it out
for 40 circuits of the speedway. The popular antique and classic Stock Cars, Modifieds, Sprint Cars and Midgets of the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association (DAARA) will complete a doubleheader weekend of their own that includes a Saturday night show at Citrus County Speedway. There will also be action for the Q Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini Cup cars as they will compete both Saturday and Sunday.

Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 3 pm with practice getting under way at 3:45 pm through 5:45 pm. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm with qualifying for the SSCS Modifieds at 6:15 pm. Racing gets under way at 7 pm with eight lap heat races for the Legend Cars, Scramblers, Mini Cups and the Q Mini Stocks.

The Legend Cars will be first up for feature race action of 25 laps followed by the Scramblers for 20 laps, 20 laps of Mini Cup action before the Modifieds take to the Speedway for the first 40 laps of their 75-lap contest.

The Modifieds will get ten minutes to make adjustments to their cars during the intermission break, then will return for the final 35 laps of their big event. The Q Mini Stocks follow for 25 laps before the Figure-8's go 25 laps to round out the night of racing.

On Sunday, pit gates open at 2 pm with practice from 2:30 - 3:30 pm. Grandstand gates open at 3 pm and racing begins at 4 pm with eight lap heat races for the DAARA cars, Scramblers, Mini Cups and Q Mini Stocks.

The DAARA machines will be up first for feature race action followed by 20 laps for both the Scramblers and Mini Cups. Up next will be the 50-lap shootout for the Street Stocks.

After a brief intermission, The Q Mini Stocks race for 25 laps before the V-8 Bombers wrap up the day with their 40-lap contest.

Adult admission for both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon is just $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are only $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free. Again, on Sunday, church members who bring a church bulletin, ID or shirt will receive $5 off the regular adult admission.

Rain check tickets and WPCV-Radio winning tickets will be honored on either Saturday or Sunday.
