AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY CELEBRATES CINCO DE MAYO WITH SSCS TWIN-50s
Auburndale Speedway will celebrate Cinco De Mayo with a pair of 50-lap races for the Sunshine State Challenge Series (SSCS) Sportsman cars and the Pro Trucks. Also on the card will be the V-8 Bombers, Legend Cars, Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini Cup cars. Make sure to try out the Cinco De Mayo Nacho Special at the concession stand while they last at a cost of just $5.
The Sportsman cars will be led by SSCS Sportsman point leader Aaron Williamson who won the event held here on February 19th and Jason Rendell who was a close second in that race. Others expected include James Wright III, Craig Cuzzone, Kyle Cooper, Dora Thorne, Cody Allen, Brandon Martin, Jacob Berkevich, Rick Reed and others.
Tommy Kelly has had an excellent season so far in the SSCS Pro Trucks including a win here during the February 19th show. Kelly will have plenty of competition, though, including Cody McDuffie, Cody Martell, Jason "Scooby" Lester, Kristen Clements, Chris Narramore, Sr., Dakota Hunt, Danny Anderson, Adam Briggs and more including the return of Big Donnie Burkalter to the Pro Truck wars sporting his new sponsor, Greenbriar Landscape. Aaron Holmes is hoping to also have his truck back in race-ready form for Saturday night.
Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 2 pm with practice for Sportsman and Pro Trucks from 3-4 pm followed by practice for all of the other divisions competing. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm with qualifying for the SSCS Sportsman and Pro Trucks at 6 pm.
Racing begins at 7 pm with 8-lap heat races for the Mini Cups, Legends, Mini Stocks, V-8 Bombers and Scramblers. Feature racing follows with the 20-lap contest for the Mini Cups going before intermission when the Sportsman cars will come out for a special autograph and photo op session. The Sportsman drivers will then mount up and run their 50-lap feature event.
Following the Sportsman headliner it will be 25 laps for the Legend Cars, 20 laps for the Mini Stocks, 25 laps for the V-8 Bombers
and 20 laps of Scrambler racing before the Pro Trucks take to the speedway for their 50-lap run to end the evening.
Although there are two 50-lap races on the card, adult admission still remains at just $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are only $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.
