When the series raced there last October, <strong>NASCAR Nextel Cup<\/strong> regular<strong> Ryan Newman<\/strong> paid a visit and won the 100-lap event. Newman has confirmed that he will be in attendance on April 7th to defend his victory.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, NASCAR C<strong>raftsman Truck Series star Terry Cook<\/strong> has also told PRA officials that he will be there, making a rare appearance in an open wheel car. 2001 was the best year for Cook in the Truck Series. He finished 7th in points that year. He has a total of 6 wins. Cook will be driving for his father-in- law, famed car owner Bob East at South Georgia.<br \/>\n<strong>Chet Fillip<\/strong> to compete in PRA Big Car Series April 7th!2006 PRA Big Car Champion Chet Fillip will begin defense of his title. While he didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t record a victory last year, his consistency led to the series first championship. Chet was fast qualifier at South Georgia Motorsports Park last October turning a lap on the half-mile oval of over 105 miles an hour. He finished 3rd in the race.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sgmpracing.com\/\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" alt=\"PRA BIG CAR SERIES\" id=\"image70\" src=\"http:\/\/shorttrackamerica1.com\/racelog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/03\/med2007prasgmp.jpg\" \/>South Georgia Motorsports Park<\/strong><\/a> is located near Valdosta, Ga. two minutes from I-75 exit 32. This speedway is one of the finest facilities for motorsports in the country, and features a half-mile oval for stock car racing and a 1\/4 mile dragstrip as well.<\/p>\n<p>Others scheduled to make a return visit to the Cecil, Georgia facility include <strong>A.J. Fike<\/strong> who finished 2nd there last October, Eric Gordon who won the PRA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s inaugural event at <strong>Illiana Motor Speedway<\/strong> in Schererville, Indiana last June, and Donnelsville, Ohio\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s T<strong>eddy Beach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Gates open at 4 pm, practice will begin at 4:30 and qualifying will commence at 6:30.
